? about hoyt strings and cables
I am waiting for my new xtec to come in and I was wondering if the factory strings and cables are good on this bow, or should I replace them right off? Let me know. Thanks, Bhunter32.

In my opinion, the strings Hoyt uses leaves a lot to be desired. I have shot Hoyt's for a good many years and never liked their strings. I for one usually replace them as soon as I can. You'll find that the bow remains more consistant and you wont have to monkey with the strings and cables to keep it in check.
I personally used Winners Choice the last couple years and loved them, but hey are awefully pricey. This season, I'm going to give Wolf Den strings a try. Same guarentees as WC except about half the price.

They are ok strings, like any other company they seem to lack the quality that a good custome string by companies like Stone Mountain, Winners Choice, Barry Strings, etc.
I woudl say it is well worth the effort to get a good custom set of strings! I like Stone Mountains.

I've found the strings and cables on my '03 Ultratec to be excellent. I had a little creep after the initial shoot-in period, but a couple of twists across the board took care of that. I HAVEN'T HAD TO TOUCH THEM SINCE. They are wearing like steel too. I have no fuzzing or pilling to speak of. I would recommend that you give the factory rigging a try. There is no reason to take perfectly good strings and cables off of a bow and trash them, unless they are worn. If you aren't happy with the way they wear, THEN replace them with a 'premium' bowstring.

I have only owned one Hoyt since they went to the D75 material that I had a problem with string stretch. I am sure that quality varies at times but I have found them to be more than acceptable in most cases.

I'm with Olink.... My son left the string on his '03 ultratec, after initial break in (200 shots), twisted string and have not touched it since Dec. 02. My friend did exactly the same thing. Both have approx 10,000 shots. No problems. Will probably change them after the Indoor Worlds just because of peace of mind for new strings. I left them them on my '04 also. No problems with creep after 1500 shots. Leave them on and change them if you don't like them.
