Traded my LX for an Outback today ! Sweet shooting and no recoil ! The first one I shot was quieter w/ string silencers and limbsavers ......but this one is pretty darn quiet !
The biggest surprise was the speed !!!! I set it up with my same accessories as on my LX and the darn thing is only 1-2 fps slower than my LX !!
Now for those that don't know.....I'm shooting a Wisker Biscuit rest (untrimmed and have verified several times a 5 fps loss in speed) ! So with my bows set up with a loop, Tru-peep, and the WB are like this on 30" draw 80 % let off :
The LX on 69# was shooting a 350 grain ....299-300 fps !!
The Outback on 69# ....350 grain ........297-298 fps !!
The Outback will max on 75 # and was kicking out :
350 grains = 311 fps
369 grains = 304 fps
450 grains = 282 fps
All this with the WB rest !
Needless to say .........I know there are faster bows.....but this isn't supposed to be one ! I went to a smaller bow with an extra inch in brace height.....it's smoother and a little quieter..........and I only lost 2 fps !! And I felt like I got a good trade..........Life is Good !!

Ordered mine today!3 to 4 week wait.Smooth and quiet bow,Thought I would shoot 65% let off but the 80% is much smoother and seems to settle at full draw much better.

Wow! Those are some pretty impressive speeds. I had the opportunity to take a look at an Outback a couple days ago and I have admit that your observations were pretty much right on. Mathews has a good solid bow in the Outback.

Handled one at the shop this past weekend. Very nice, solid bow (for a shorty
). And yep, she's quick too.
I'm surprised though at the (lack of) speed diff in your LX though. IME at the shop the LX runs about 7-9 FPS faster apples to apples.

Jeff .....It surprised me too ! My LX didn't for what ever reason......cam was timed perfectly......spec's all correct ........same exact accessories and arrows ! Actually ....comparing my LX speeds to other posts.....only a couple of guys posted speeds faster than what I was getting !
Beats me.......but my Ultra 2 was the same way......I only got 303 fps out of it with a prong style rest and it was a 65% model ! [>:]
Nice to finally get one that's hitting the numbers !!
