I have a tm rest also and i shoot carbon arrows...but my arrows don't fall through. I had plastic sleeves go over the prongs. iT keeps the arrow from falling through and it silences the arrow on the draw.

There is a set screw that will allow you to loosen the two prongs and rotate them inward. This will close your gap, just make sure they are level.
