Default Picked up a Trophy Taker cheap tonight

I really had no intentions on trying this rest because I just didn't like the design of it. I bought it for 40.00 brand new and decided to give it a whirl.

I took it home and began setting it up. Right away, one thing I noticed is that its well built. Now comes the fun part. Set up. I really feel that its a cumbersome rest to setup. Also, there was some play in the launcher arm. Not impressed. I tightened the launcher up till there wasn't any more play and began fumbling with the cord. This thing leaves a lot to be desired as far as precision goes. There isn't any clear way to tell where the cord to thread through the down cable is going to end up, even served. And, you have to tye a knot to secure it in place. Now, I think everyone knows as well as I do. When you tye a string loop on your string, its usually takes a little shooting to settle the knots and then you can make the adjustments to finish it.

I found this rest to be extremely noisy. I applied the supplied moleskin to the riser, then used my own to do both sides of the launcher prongs. The rest is set up so that it hits the riser, not the metal stop on the rest. Still, noisy in my opinion.

I'm hocking this bugger on Ebay. I'll stick with my NAP QT4000. So far, nothing has come close to it. Especially when you're paying 70 + dollars on a rest.

I know I'll take some flack for this, but its my honest to goodness opinion.

interesting...

My experience is 100% completely the opposite of yours. It took me all of about 15 minutes to set up initially (serve the cable, tie a knot, split the cable..put the knot end through, using an overhand knot at the tab took maybe 5 minutes to get timing right as per the instructions..retimed it a week later by untying the tab knot adjusting and retying..that took about 5 minutes too), there is no play, attaching it the cable was fine w/ no perceived stretch after 700 plus shots and it's more quiet than my NAP3000 was on the same bow

Not giving you flack, but our experiences are totally different (honestly I've had more difficulty w/ the 4000s due to the braided cable at the shop)

Perhaps there is a reason that one was priced so low?

Jeff, I'm not sure. It was brand new, still in packaging and not a mark on it. I trust my shop, they don't fool with people that way.

I just do not like the cable they use. I don't trust it. A lot of people use one with no problems at all and thats great for them. I just have a complex I guess. For what these rest go for, I expected more. I never once had a problem with the cable on the NAP. It can be a bugger to get into the cable slide, but once there and locked down, you never have to worry about it. Also, its much quieter IMHO.

To each there own. I just wanted to share my opinion on the thing.

Muzzyman sorry to hear about your luck ,but My launcher is set so it doesn't touch any part of my bow it's about a 1/4 " behind it ,I also have no knot through my bus cable it's served directly to the outside of it and again I have had no problem's. As for noise I have very very little I don't notice it.I wish you would give it another try because I'm sure you would find that your going wrong somewhere.

I just got rid of my trophy taker and replaced it with a drop zone. I experienced similiar problems with noise. I was getting a tick when I drew the bow back. It was coming from the rest hitting the adjustment arm. Metal hitting metal and it is too small of an area to put fleece or anything else. Also, the arrow rest that sits on the shelf of the riser is a little noisy as well.

I absolutely love the DZ. Totally silent and the arrow holder that sits on the riser is a foam material. As far as long term durability goes, it is too early to tell. However, the guy at the shop said he has not herd any problems with them.

Sorry but have several people shooters using them in tournaments.
Mike Anderson just took second in Iowa pro Am shooting one. George Dixon, Nathan Brooks, Eric Griggs shoots one for hunting. Now that to me means alot. Pros know there stuff.
Bit one must feel and shoot what is right for him. There isnt much more accurate and easier fallawy on the market today.

My experience with the Trophy Taker has been a good one. I put one on my bow 2 years ago and it's been flawless for me. The set-up was simple the rest was easy to tune and just plain works great. I've since bought another one and installed it on my back up bow with the same results.

pdq 5oh,

I just took it back to the shop! Sorry friend! It was a shakey hunter.

I just feel that there is no comparison between it and the NAP. The NAP is a much higher quality rest.
