If your knock goes inside the shaft there is a little allen screw in side, if it's too tight that may cause it to Explode as you call it .If your knock is glued on the outside of the shaft it could of been defective maybe even the wrong knock for that particular arrow.Did this happen to A arrow or more than one?

The only nock that has a screw inside it are the gold tip lock nocks. They are junk anyway. It could be that it had a thin crack from another arrow making contact with it and when you shot it it finally failed.

If the nock exploded when you released, then you should get your bow checked out at the shop. This is essentially the same thing as a dry fire, and could have resulted in damage to the limbs, axles, strings, etc....
Most likely not, but getting it checked out is better than having the bow explode in your face at full draw.
