RE: Summit stand pinging - Help!

Call Summit about the questionable teeth on your climber. Or go to a store and compare your climber' s teeth with another one in the store...

What Wild Weasel said about using all of your weight by SLIGHTLY bouncing works too.

I may be mistaken, but I believe that I read from the instructions that the strap is to be used on the bottom part of the climber, not the top portion. I can' t re-verify, since I threw the instructions away. Of course, having an additional strap for the top portion would be nice as well.

Will Woller from Summit, where are you?

Kindest Regards,

-Will in Maryland

RE: Summit stand pinging - Help!

I thought I would follow up because I contacted Summit directly about my stand. Anyway, they were fantastic. I contacted them by email this morning and Ken Looney wrote back within an hour saying they were going to send me out a new viper and pre paid Fed Ex call tag so I could send my current one back for inspection. This is a great relief as I was wondering if I could stand to use the stand anymore this season and I was reluctant to grind on the teeth and perhaps weaken them in some way. In any case, this is fantastic customer service as far as I am concerned! If this fixes it, and I am sure it will based on comments on this BB then they got me as a customer for life.

RE: Summit stand pinging - Help!

I bought the summit bullet, first night hunting it squeaked every time i moved on the stand. I tryed adjusting the nuts with the plastic washers, tryed lubricating them, nothing helped. Called summit and they replaced the stand. Samething happened with the new one. Its a shame I was pleased with how the stand climbed and griped the tree, but the noise I cannot have. Summits customer support was great but it still doesn' t make up for the problems with their stands. I returned it and bought a lone wolf sit and climb.

RE: Summit stand pinging - Help!

Ridge,
That must have been awhile ago, my viper has no bolts or nuts on it at all. It is all welded together. It never squeaked, the teeth just didn' t grip properly. That was the only problem I have had with it. Hopefully the new one they are sending will fix the teeth problem and be as worry free in the other areas as the old one also.
