Talking Cleaning A Bow

I have been away for awhile and havent had my bow out for about a year. When I took it out of the hard case it was packed in, I noticed that some of the screws had rust on them. Ive shot the bow many times since then, and though the bow makes no sounds as of yet, because of this rust doesnt mean it wont do harm in the long run. But is there a way to clean them or anything I can do?

If I were you I would just put a drop of gun oil on a cloth and wipe the screws off. Just enough to leave a thin film on them. Be sure not to get any oil on the string or cables or in the limb pockets. You can wipe the limbs off with a soft cloth with furniture polish. But again nothing on the string or cables. These get a good synthetic cleaner/wax.

I'll second what bronko said. Fastner heads rust, no doubt about it. Only way around it is stainless fastners, which I have seen done. If you don't like the silver shine of them... heat them up with a torch (get them like WHITE HOT) and quickly dunk them in a small can of break free, tri-flo or some other very light machine oil. It will give them a nice lustered blue finish. Hence the name "flame bluing". Works good on small gun parts too.... props to Larry Potterfield.
