Default Question about GKF Mirage.

I currently shoot a GKF Mirage on my 01 Hoyt Havoc. Its a great rest and is shooting great, but it seems as if the bottom edges are sharp and it does cut the top of my hand. I was wondering if there is anything recommended to put on the bottom to prevent it from coming in contact with my hand, or if maybe mine has a defect. I dont want to change my grip, but may end up having to if I cant solve this problem. Thanks.

You really need to come up with some way to insure that you DO NOT touch the rest. The contact made with your hand and the rest is most likely causing torque.

You can rotate the rest up a bit and adjust the amount the prong comes up to compensate for the amount moved. This should resolve the problem.

I have a Mirage on my Bowtech and it sits up high enough not to touch my hand at all. I havent seen one on a Hoyt though. I also dont feel any sharp edges on the bottom of mine. Please call the Techs at GKF and they will be able to further assist you. Their customer service is top of the line. The number is 1-800-448-7378 they will help you out.

let me rephrase that. It doesnt actually touch my hand as im holding the bow. It actually happens after I release, and the bow " jumps" a little. It seems as if the bottom of the rest hangs below the top of the grip on my Hoyt. If a picture would help, I will be glad to post one in the morning. (my camera doesnt do well with minimal light.)

I had the same issue with my Mirage. My solution was to use some window insulation foam and line the forward facing edge of the arrow cup. Then push the rest tight up aganst the riser. This compressed the foam and caused it to squish out between the riser the rest. Now the foam pads my thumb from the somewhat less than radiused edge of the rest. I also keeps the rest quieter and helps absorb vibration.
