JN - Glad you got it shooting. But keep in mind, it may not be the 'tighter' grip on the bow but could be you hand placement. I had a similar situation when I switched from my High Country bow to the Martins I shoot today. My grip is entirely different. But I do not 'grip' the bow. The bow's grip naturally sets in the groove created in the palm of the hand with my fingers just sort of hanging out in front (actually the back) of the bow.
