I dont frequent this forum much, so sorry if this gets asked alot, but how many years would you guess the limbs(w/ limbsavers) on a modern, well cared for, compound would last, if fired around 500X a year, w/ a relatively heavy arrow?

To be more specific, I would exclude the hoyt ,split laminate, style limbs, and the new polymer type limbs, on certain mathews models which Im sure last much longer.

I have witnessed two bows that over a 5000 shot period drop poundage from 70lbs to 67lbs. Then after 2000 more shots or so, drop to 65lbs.

But more importantly than limbs loosing thier spring, was the cams started getting a whole lot of slop in them. I had to compensate by getting larger axles and I would get a friend to take off a few mils to get a decent fit.

With a bow getting only about 500 hundred shots a year (that's a month for me) and properly cared for the limbs themselves would last almost indefinitely. They would lose a few pounds over about 10 years, but nothing drastic.

I've had bows that only lost a couple pounds sitting around for 20 years, and that was one with older wood.glass laminated limbs.

Most limb material is impervious to most anything except extreme heat. Shooting them doesn't hurt them. That's what they are made for.

Believe me, if you take care of your bow you can't shoot enough or keep it long enough to tell any difference in performance.
