Len, Thanks for your opinion. I was kind of leaning towards the magnum, just waiting for the dealer to get extra modules in.

Hey, Len...What' s the word on this new bow you' re alluding too?? Will it have one of the existing darton Cam systems or will it be new on this particular bow. Obviously it will be CPS but are they planning anything new for their cams??? This bow is intriguing.....and you know very well that I' m always looking for a new bow...;)

All the engineering has been done. It' s just a matter of getting the final steps completed. That, however, may not be finished until very late this year. It will be a 2004 model; but, it may be released earlier than normal for a new model year.

I understand that they have found a way to make the C/P/S Extreme Cam (presently only available on the Avalanche and Magnum Extreme) work on the Maverick format. This was at first deemed not possible since the Extreme Cam was designed for the parallel style limb design.

The ' Maverick Extreme' will have the same basic specs - 37" ATA, a very mild reflex riser, and the recurve limbs. The major advantages will be a 7" BH and about 4 fps increase in speed - making it about 318 fps. The new Maverick Extreme will probably have the Martin riser dampeners as well. Think about it. Bows with comparable specs by other manufacturers average about 305-310 fps.:D

Len what is the difference between the extreme cam and the cam on the maverick? I really like the CPS.After shooting a mathews for several years I forgot what a smooth drawing and letting down bow felt like.I picked up a maverick XT for cheap(thanks CG) and it' s definetly a shooter.I was going to let my son shoot it but I gave him my old mathews instead:DI just might have to step up to a new one next year.The only thing I' ve seen on the maverick is a tendency to wear the serving on the cable where the draw stop hits.Is this normal?
For a short BH bow this thing sure does shoot though.

The Extreme Cam is just a little ' hotter' than the Express Cam. It was designed to get better speeds out of the parallel limb designs (Avalanche and Magnum). There has always been requests for a Maverick with higher BH. By utilizing the Extreme Cam with different limb deflection, they seem to have solved the problem.

Keep in mind that extending BH will usually reduce speed, but the ' hotter' cam brings it back - and then some.

Darton may not be the ' BEST' bow on the market in several areas; but, the smooth draw and smooth let-down, coupled with real speed and shootability, have kept me shooting one for about 6 years. I can' t and won' t put up with a radical cam system or lower let-off to gain just a few FPS - and that' s really all there is.;)

Len, i bought my darton today. I ended up getting the avalanche, because i liked the extra sight window length, compared to the magnum.
Iam impressed, it is fast quiet , and very little recoil.and very smooth!:)
