arrow noise
 

Everyone speaks of having a quite bow; yer that is great and we all wish we had a totally silent one. What about the sound of the arrow as it cuts through the air. I recently acquired a new bow and the arrows are going much faster than the ones from the old bow. I did an experiment and got a friend to shoot the two and I stood behind a huge hay bail and listened to the sound of the arrows now I am convinced the reason for the deer jumping is not the "twang" of the bow, but the arrow "hissing". What do you all think and what can I do to solve the problem? Thank you in advance.

At 300 FPS I don't think Deer have time to hear your arrow, by the time they hear it it's too late. on the other hand bow noise is the main reason for Deer jumping the string.

I agree with Glock. Deer have no time to react to arrow noise, it's the bow string at the shot they hear.

Sorry guys trust me; its the arrow noise! I will see what other opinions I get, here or elsewhere.

I have heard the hissing noise of an arrow in flight, nothing new. Shoot feathers if you want to hear a noisy arrow. I guess it's like Deer seeing color, or does scent lok clothing work... Every one has an opinion..

The reason I am asking is because I thought someone might have an idea, or experienced this before. We can hunt 365 days a year, I hunt most days, given not always deer. With 40+ years of actual hunting experience as a guide and outfitter, on deer. Unlike you guys that are limited by your short seasons, huge hunter numbers, etc. etc.. I suppose that is why "you" are lacking in actual hands on hunting experience? I have had other valid opinion expressed elsewhere if they prove to work I may share them on this forum?

In my experience Deer don't react to arrow noise in flight. I use feathers and there isn't any fletching that makes more noise than they do in flight, but in 40+ years Bowhunting I've yet to have a deer react to it:D

Birds are always flying around. They make a little noise too![8D]

I think that type of noise is more natural in the woods than the recoil sound of a Loud bow. Now Deer will react to that!;)

Wow! A little condescending don't you think?? I guess weignorant American hunters will have to wait to hear back from you once you've got the whole thing figured out.

There are natural things, you know in nature, that make hissing sounds. I figure in your 40+ years of hunting you may have heard one or two. I haven't even been alive that long and I've heard them once or twice. On the other hand, i can't think on nothing in nature that sounds like ANY bow releasing. Buy i guess since I'm so inexperienced i really don't know what i'm talking about.

Don't come to a forum, ask an opinion, then tell the people that give there opinion that they are wrong. It obviously doesn't go over to well down here in the states...........

So go ahead and take your snotty attitude, with all your great outdoors experience elsewhere.
