Im shooting a mathews dxt 70 29' and i was wondering if a arrow that weighs 370 grains would be to light for this setup thanks

RE: arrow weight
Thats 5.28gr per lb which is fine as the minimum limit is 5 gr per lb, this will give you more speed....Iprefer my hunting arrows around 7gr per lb.

RE: arrow weight
My hunting arrows are 5 grains per lbs I shot a 70lbs bow with a 350 gr arrow I have never had a penetration problem I will except the speed versus the the weight for whitetail. I also hunt in Kansas and have never had a problem out to 40yds. Bear and elk I would go up in weight though.

RE: arrow weight
Personally I do not like light weight arrows. The two bigggest concrns I have with light weight arrows is that theycreate unnecessary wear and tear on the bow and strings andthe bow is much louder than with a heavier arrow.
I will take a quiet bow over speed any day. There is a huge difference in sound betweentwo identical bows shooting with one shooting a 350 grian arrow and the other shooting a 450 - 500grain arrow. If I were going after pronghorn antelope or plains mule deer I might opt for a lighter weight arrow. |
