How do you adjust you 3rd plane on sights that have 3rd plane adjustments?

Using a 3rd plane bow vise, and then confirming everything shooting some up/down hill shots in excess of40 yards.

I prefer the medicine stone bow vise, I think it's top notch compared to everything I have seen.

If you have a sliding sight bar set your 4th axis first....... You could still see left to right issues on downhill shots even after settingthe 3rdwith a vise and levels, if the 4th is off.....

Spott-Hogg recommends as one of the simplest ways for the average archer to simply hang a weighted string from the ceiling, and to kneel down and aim up at the string. You'll need to adjust your 3rd axis accordingly to ensure your sight pins are vertical with the string.

Anyone discovered any drawbacks to this method? TFOX or RJ?

I've done it this way, but I just find it difficult to hold steady enough to see it level in both places. A good medicine stone type 3rd axis vise is IMHO the most important tool one can have in a shop and once the sight is done this way you know it's done right.

I currently have an Apple Economy Vise that I'm looking to fit with levels to do the same thing, but I will eventually end up with a Medicine Stone vise. For now I head to a buddy's house to use his Medicine Stone every time I get a new bow to setup. This in combination with the H&H 2 plane level will do just about anything I need.

The arrow PATHmust be square with the 3rd axis,that is the whole point in adjusting the 3rd axis.
