Finally, Mathews to intro '02 line this week
The word from my local Mathews dealer is sometime on thursday. He said he should have pics of all the '02 bows by Friday morning.
I've been putting off a new bow purchase for about 2 months waiting for the new mathews lineup so IMO its about time.
Anyone want to test their psychic abilities and take a guess what they have up their sleeve for this year?
One rumor I've heard has been of a Rival Pro 2. Supposedly a Rival Pro with a different cam, and harmonic dampers added.
I hope that isnt all they've got though. I still cant figure out why Mathews waits until AFTER winter leagues have started in many areas to introduce their new model bows.

It seems to me that they purposefully wait until the AMO show to "unveil" their goodies. When they brought out the Q2 with the harmonic dampers the Mathews booth was so crowded you could hardly get in it. McPherson has stated that his strategy is to stay just ONE step ahead of the competition (as opposed to light years ahead). That is an interesting plan, job security by design!

Agreed. However, a couple of weeks before the 2000 models were out, the reps knew enuff to be able to say what was coming in general terms. In 2001 the SQ2 was on dealer shelves before the show (to make up for the terrible delivery problems they had in 2000 I suspect). This year the MAthews reps seem to know nothing, or have been instructed to be extremely secretive compared to years previous. Of course MAtt's team very well could have another not terribly revolutionary product like the HD system and some re-hash bows like he did in 2001, but he would be stupid if he did. Companies like Bowtech could very easily upset the apple cart if the bigger boys start to rest on their laurels.

Although I'm interested to see what Matthews has in store, I'm a dedicated Hoyt shooter, and nothing's going to change that. I don't think there is anything that Matthews could possibly come up with, to make me change ship. After all, if they do make a "legendary" discovery, then all the major bow companies will eventually follow.

As always I look forward to seeing what Mathews comes out with....
...just so that I can see all the people complain about how "non-revolutionary" a concept it is....
Seriously though....I haven't heard a peep either, but I am looking forward to seeing what the new lineup is.
