Finally, Mathews to intro '02 line this week

RobVos posted some (admittedly) 2nd hand info about the new models over on the Bowsite.
If true, I don't see what's the big whoop..
Bowtech's new Vibration reducing limb sleeve thingies, 9 1/2" brace height bows, and stabilizer sounds more interesting to me.

Ahhh, Hoyt had the vibration reducing limb thingees two years ago...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
Here is the quote that Jeff is referring to....
<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote<font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote> Ikon, Legacy, and Sportsman.
Ikon -- 37" A-A, 7.75 brace, IBO 308, new cable slide system. Legacy -- 34" A-A, 300 IBO, new cable slide system. Sportsman -- for Bowfishing, similar to Genesis.
All info is 2nd hand.

Frank,
Kind of and not kind of like the Hoyts. Check out the what's new section of the BT website. It sounds like a thick LimbSaver sleeve that coats the entire limb, kind of like HCA's vibradamp, but it should actually work
Looks like those 2 new BT bows will be right up your alley too Hoytboy!

A thick coating of rubberized material tends to slow a limb down as far as reaction time goes in addition to helping with vibration, that's why most companies scrapped that idea and went to pocket dampeners or navcom stuffed into the riser up near the limb, or even NV at the limb bolts. These types do not hamper performance. Not having seen this system yet I don't know, but it must be very light to maintain the best possible reaction time. Bowtechs are fast enough to be able to lose a few feet without worry, and the tradeoff will probably be worth it.
I have a friend that checked out the Mathews line today,(I can't be there this year, WAH!) says the Icon might be impressive enough to get more than just a "Ho-hum" this year. Have to wait and see, I guess. Pinwheel 12

PW12,
Agreed, however BT is claiming no speed loss w/ 1 set, and 1 FPS loss w/ 2. Each set is said to reduce vibration by about 25%.
Will be interesting to see in the least.

If we are counting, Mathews had/possibly invented Vertical Force Technology years ago. The Patriot still looks like a nice bow wherever they got the idea...

Actually XI was doing it before Mathews. The Legacy and Flatliner started w/ the laid back limb design (although compared to today it doen't seem so, but back then it was). And the the Velocity Series did the same thing but they used a pre-curved limb.
Also HCA was doing the long riser short limb thing 2 years before Mathews.
The difference is Matt was willing to sacrifice some performance to get the feel, whereas other manufacturers were not.
And from what I can tell of the Patriot and talking to a BT staffer/dealer in my area, the Patriot limbs are laid back even more than a Mathews design but retain most of the speed because the energy is transferred equally as both limbs close (The explanation was that the pockets on the Patriot are set at slightly different angles to acomplish this instead of the same exact angle..however I don't know this particular fella enuff to trust it as absolute fact)

Ok, lets take this in entirely new direction since Jeff brought up the issue of a long riser/short limb design.....I had the opportunity to check out two "underrated bows" yesterday.....I believe they were both Jennings model since they carried the "....master" name (I can't remember if they were "star" or "hunt" or "pro" but I can't find them on their website yet.
These bows looked very well built, carried a new shock absorption system, a choice of 3 cable guard systems and had some decent speed considering the specs.
Has anyone else taken a look or shot one of these yet?....even the revamped Rackmaster solid looked better.

On another forum someone said the 2 new Mathews bows have a thing coming from the limb that hits and dampens string vibrations. Also said the the bottom cam is basically a round wheel with the only real cam being the one that takes up the cable -- trend has been going that way for a while -- should feel good on the pull, I suppose.
