Default New Bow

O.K. guy's Don't know if this is the right place for these questions. But i will give it a try.Used to shoot a bow all the time .In 2002 I almost cut my hand off (right hand) .I shoot a bow left handed. Now I was a a buds house yesterday.Tried pulling back his bow .I think it was set at 63 lbs. I think my hand will be able to do it's job again Now I have been out of the bow scene for quite a while now.I am going to get me another bow.I know that bows are like anything else ,what feels good to you ,how it handles, etc.Any suggestions for a new one .I would like to stay under $1000.00 fully outfitted if possible.Don't have to though. What let off? Want something fast, quiet, fairly easy to shoot.pins or pendelum? Rest?Have a Gander Mt.About 50 miles away. Also have a pro shop that does Mathews.I know I have probally given to many variables,Just need to get back started on the right track. There is so much new stuff since I last was involved I don't know where to start. Thanks ................SWAMP

Gander Mountain sells Diamond bows which are by Bowtech and they are really nice bows. They start at $699 and down. I have a BlackIce and really like it.You could also check out the Bear line of bows they are nice bows as well. They start at $649 I believe and down for bare bows.Mathews makes Mission bows and they arenot bad either. They start at $599 and down for bare bow. Some places also might still have 07 bows on close out I know a couple places around here do.As for sights I like pin sights never shot a pendelum. For a rest I would go with a fall away.Hope this helps.

I just bought a Mathews DXT and I love it, it has 80% let off and it is real smooth, might be a good bow for you, but I would try out as many as you can to see what works with you hand. Welcome back to bowhunting.

Don't know where Jrs. new place is .Last time I went to Ray's the old Jrs. building was gone..LOL. Planning on going to "Hole in the Wall Archery" Heard he was the guy that got Jrs.started.

Thanks for the replies. Thoughtwhen I first got hurt it was going to be crossbows .I think with some kind of modified brace I will have enough strenth in my wrist to shoot again. At least hold it stable.

Swampdog,
There are a BUNCH of really good bows out there, most that you can have fully outfitted for well under $1000. Gander actually has a really nice bow they are selling tha Bowtech made for them called the TecHunter Elite, that is only $499, that is rumored to shoot REALLY nice. I'd recommend shooting everything you can to see what feels best, then make a decision from there.

JR's is locatedat 615Henry St(downtown in the old Leakesville section) near the Fire Station. I think someone said it may have been an armory at one time. Not sure if you knew this butJR passed away last year and his son is now running the place.
