RE: Another of JeffB's...well you know....
3Dmo,
Thanx. I think you'll be real happy with your new toy!:) Rangeball, Thank you, mayeb we ought to boycott all those squishy washer users?! Ij, Thank you. I was working with a fellow at the shop who had a NAP2000 on his SuperTec about 10 days ago..he was having the same problems..(in reality this seems to be a problem period with the NAP fallaways). First off: he had got rid of the NAP wire and installed a normal cord. Then I traded out the NAP slide for one of the new Bowtech ones which has a hookup for the cable on the back side of the slider and ran the cord around the back. That helped some. We still realized that it just wasn't falling fast enough to get out of the way off the prongs and so I suggested we take the launcher they use off, and took the standard dual prongs from a NAP1000 and put those on..it was much better, but till getting some contact...it was from that rubber doo-hickey arrow holder thing NAP ships with each rest...IMO they are more trouble than they are worth. That almost annhilated any clearance issues but he still had some minor contact unless he shot cock vane down...After fooling with that rest for about an hour and a half or so so I realized I would never want one of those things...too much hassle, and god forbid something happened while you were hutning with it. If I did want a cable style, the shop has had real good luck with the Cavalier Avalanche and TT rest..I would look at those if you still want that style. But the Trapdoor is much simpler..I've heard all the complaints on various forums (noise...short life of product) but I have not found that to be the case. Owned mine since Spring and have put it on several different bows..and put alot of arrows through it...no noisier than any non-fallaway I've tried (and quieter than most), and it drops perfect everytime. |
RE: Another of JeffB's...well you know....
I just want to mirror Jeff's comments about the Trapdoor. I, too, read all of the negative comments on the various forums about the durability of the rest. Despite that fact I picked one up about two months ago and have had it installed on both the Razortec and Patriot without a single major concern...other than the fact that the prongs chipped two small flecks of paint off the riser of the Patriot...:)
It is entirely possible that a) the original models had some design flaws which have now been worked out or b) two months of shooting just isn't enough time for any potential flaws to manifest themselves. Regardless, my opinion of the rest is "so far, so good". Its compact design, ease of installation/use and current reliability make this an excellent choice in my opinion. |

Frank or Jeff or both
How do you think the rest would work in the field hunting, say if a person shoots the first arrow and then needs a 2nd arrow for whatever reason? I know it is possible someone could forget to reset the rest but is your opinion(s) it will be forgotten maybe? I have never used the rest except on your bows (Frank's). I know the MZE has me spoiled! *Become a better shot —> practice, don't just shoot* |
RE: Another of JeffB's...well you know....
Is it possible? Yes, I definitely think that it is. However, I don't think it is any more possible than someone nocking an arrow on a bow equipped with a conventional prong rest while having the arrow not sitting on the prongs but rather resting between the inside prong and the riser.
...(Don't ask, but lets just say that it happened to someone I know...) I think we all follow through with a set of subconscious procedures in which we nock the arrow...then place it on the prongs. At that point I think we would notice that Trapdoor's prongs weren't in the correct position. |
RE: Another of JeffB's...well you know....
I have a cybertec as well, and can second Jeff's remarks.
As always, an excellent report, Jeff! Rod |
