I've never really heard of any problems with the ripcord rests. Get another opinion from another Pro-Shop.

I had the same problem of the arm hitting the shelf on my bowtech. I put a couple of soft pieces of rubber on the shelf. That made it nearly silent. I ended up taking it off after a couple months and put a trophy taker xtreme on. I like it more than the ripcord.
