Default Bowtech shooters- speed vs. smooth?

A question for the Bowtech shooters, can you tell much of a difference in the smooth and speed modules? I have always had the smooth modules on my bow since new, but recently wanted to try the speed module. So I went to the Pro shop, and they let me try some out. The guy said the smooth was alot smoother, but when I shot the speed module, I couldn'ttell hardly any difference in smoothness. But it had better penetration. So my questions are-

Did you think the speed modules are worth the smoothness you give up?
How much better speed and penetration?

Im torn between sticking with the speed module or going back to the smooth. I shoot 30" draw at 68lbs. so I should get good speed even with the smooth. I can't tell now, but when it gets cold and I'm cold, it may make a difference under hunting conditions.

Any opinions?

Bump. I have always shot the fast but I am curious what the smooth guys say. With the MeanV CSS, my bow isquieter than any of my hunting partners despite the fast mods and no string leeches.

I shoot the smooth mods and love them. The onlydifference that I noticed when I was shooting the speed mods is that it seemed to break over a little harder... with my setup I would only gain about3-5 fps with the speeds and lose that smooth draw that I am used to. Its really all personal preference in the end. I would shoot extensively with both and then decide.

yeah, the break over point is all I notice too, and it's nothing really. The guy at the Pro shop said he has chrono'd the Bowtech's and every time its 8-10 fps faster with the speed module. It definately shoots flatter, but I wouldn't necessarily say better.

Honestly, I'd say its hard to go wrong either way.

Oh, as far as quietness, suppossedly there is no difference with either, I dunno myself. It hard for me to tell how quiet a bow is ifImthe one shooting it.

I definitely noticed that the fast mod. was more harsh to draw. The speed gained for the fast mod isn't worth it for hunting, for 3D maybe, but not for hunting.

I don't really understand the reason for the 2 different modules on hunting bows myself. At the speeds these bows shoot with the smooth mods you can kill anything in North America with even a 60# bow. What is even 10 more FPS going to do for you?

Shaving off a few feet of error in yardage estimation at the 3D stake. If they were just "hunting" bows I'd agree with you 100% but they get used for competition too.

I preferred the smooth on mine. I did loose 8 fps, but the ability to let down if I don't get the shot is the main reason I went with the smooths.

That and the fact that I like a smoooth drawing bow.

I guess I'm just used to the feel of what most people consider a harsh draw. I've shot the smooth mods and don't feel a huge difference. So I go with the speed.
