MeanV STS
OK folks I own 2 BowTechs. Both are quiet and shock free.......or so I thought. I ordered one of MeanV's STS for my Tribute, installed it easily enough within a hair of the string. 1st shot was absolutely dead quiet and I didn't feel a thing. My friend was standing next to me asking me if I was going to shoot or stand there looking down range. He didn't even hear my shot. I recommend the MeanV STS to everyone. 2hrs later still quiet as a church mouse. It isstreamline to the back of the riser and adjustable. No bulky mounting brackets to tune or put together. Absolutely priceless! I'm getting one for my Equalizer. Give it a shot folks. Happy Hunting :D

RE: MeanV STS
Congrats I bought one from STS and like it now that I got it figured out.

RE: MeanV STS
I've been meaning to put up a post like this myself. I installed a Mean V CSS about a week ago on My Black Ice. It went from a quiet bow with a slight buzz to almost silent. Thisdevice not only works well but it looks great to. Thanks Dan for an excellent product.
|
RE: MeanV STS
masterdriver, I also have one ordered for my tribute. Did you leave on any other string silencers, i.e. cat whiskers, leeches??
|
RE: MeanV STS
MD, Just ordered the camo version for my PSE X-Force. I have a slight amount of string twang that I hope this will take care of. Really would prefer not to install any further string silencers. Looking forward to seeing how it performs.

RE: MeanV STS
This item works great. Shot a few arrows late in the afternoon...nice &still in the back yard. My Liberty is fairly quiet. Then installed the Mean V. Next shot was even more quiet. I love it.
|
RE: MeanV STS
I left everything on. It's up to you.
|
RE: MeanV STS
OOps. I was attempting to answer 1 person but loooks like you all have the same question. These things are tuneable but I left the original hush kit on my Tribute.
|
RE: MeanV STS
Has anyone on here replaced an STS with the MeanV and noticed an improvement?
|
RE: MeanV STS
ORIGINAL: DaveC Has anyone on here replaced an STS with the MeanV and noticed an improvement? Dave, Ill let you know as soon as my MeanV arrives. |
RE: MeanV STS
Cool, I'll be waiting ;).
|
RE: MeanV STS
I also put one on my Tribute. Took off the string leeches, but now notice a slight buzz? I might put cat whiskers on, just to check it out. But man was it ever quiet w/the leeches. My kid even noticed how quiet my bow shot. He commented on how he's hearing only the arrow hit. Definitely would recommend the CSS to anyone.

RE: MeanV STS
I know it's been asked a bunch, but would someone please post, or PM me, MeanV's link to buy one of these things. Thanks!
|
RE: MeanV STS
Anyone?

RE: MeanV STS
Thank You!
|
RE: MeanV STS
Do these things slow your bow down at all?
|
RE: MeanV STS
I haven't noticed any speed loss but have not cronode my bow since installation. Not sure if the CSS would slow anything down.
|
RE: MeanV STS
I installed one on my switchback and absolutely love it. I ordered it camo dipped to match my bow. It showed up to my door within a week. I couldn't believe how light it was. I installed it on my bow with no problem andthe fit was unbelieveable. You could see just the slightest amount of light betweenit and the string. I would recommend it to anyone.
|
RE: MeanV STS
PROOF is in the Backstraps. HAH!:D
|
RE: MeanV STS
Meanv makes a great stopper. I use his on all my bows, not that the others don't perform but his look like original equipment parts.
|
RE: MeanV STS
anyone has a meanv sts on his tomkat ?
F. |
RE: MeanV STS
I use a MeanV CSS on both my 2006 Bowtech Tribute and on my Guardian. It makes the Tribute almost as quiet and dead in the hand as the Guardian is without one. The Guardian is above awesome with the MeanV CSS on it. It wiil only improve any bow you put it on.

RE: MeanV STS
Hey MD, not trying to sideswipe your post, just curious if anyone is adding some serving to their strings where the string comes in contact with the string suppressor. Just received my MeanV, installed it, looks great, but not sure how it performs yet. Like to hear from people who have used them for awhile, thanks.
|
RE: MeanV STS
Thats it, I ordered one.
|
RE: MeanV STS
I always serve the string where it makes contact with the suppressor.
|
RE: MeanV STS
Good tip greg, thanks.
|
RE: MeanV STS
I'm glad to hear you like it cause I just ordered mine tonight. He was such a nice guy also. I called to talk to him to get it shipped to Canada. If it lives up to its rep.(which I'm sure it will) I'll get one for my other bow to.
|
RE: MeanV STS
I haven't noticed any wear at POC but I've only shot maybe 300 arrows since I installed it. I'm probably not going to serve mine until I get back from Iraq a yr from Dec. At that point I'll get my bows restrung and tuned back up.
|
RE: MeanV STS
MD, thats kind of what I was wondering. Not sure how the costs differ from adding additional serving at the POC, or just replacing the string a little more often. Kind of new to this equipment, so any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated.

RE: MeanV STS
Follower- Bought new STS's about three weeks ago. I have around five hundred shots on my Bowtech Patriot VFT. Is this thing great or what?? Best thing since sliced bread.
I read a lot of post and replies on whether or not to serve. I ordered twoof them. The manufacture supplies you with serving. Do you think they are trying to tell you something??? I left one bow without servings and the other with. After fifty shots on the one without, I noticed my sting was starting to get a little fussier, sort of like teasing hair at POC. I then decided to server it as well. Everything greatin bow heaven now. If there is any doubt, it is cheaper to install serving than buying new strings, besides you may have to re-tune after new string. Not worth all that for just a little serving even if it costs you a few FPS. lol Sparky!!!!!:D:D:D |
RE: MeanV STS
Thanks for the input sparky, I will look into adding some serving to my string. It sounds like they (STS manufacturer)are pretty clear on this issue, but no additional serving came with my MeanV suppressor. I am assuming that by STS, you specifically mean the STS brand of string suppressor, not STS as a generic term. Please correct me if I am wrong.
|
RE: MeanV STS
Dan used to include a message in his instructions with his MeanV suppressors that he recommended serving the string at the point of contact as well... I've got just enough to make sure it doesn't touch the string there; about an inch's worth. It couldn't have cost me a nickel's worth of serving, and I bet less than 2 fps, if that.
|
RE: MeanV STS
Greg, I just looked again at the packaging from Dan and the MeanV suppressor, and he does note adding additional serving to the string as a recommendation.
|
RE: MeanV STS
I do intend to get serving put on but being that I will be in IRAQ over the next 15 months possibly and miss this season and most of next it would behoove me to replace my string and cables after i get back and pull my bows out of storage. I will serve then. For now I'm good. Retunning is what makes it fun for me. I always work on my basics and refamiliarize myself to not only my bow's but the sport also. Good luck this season to all. Happy Hunting.:D

RE: MeanV STS
Can anyone post a pic of their bow with a mean v on it. Preferably an Allegience. I am thinking about it. My bow shop says it won't make much of a difference, but I may do it. Thanks
|
RE: MeanV STS
looks to me like they only make it for a riser that has the the threaded hole toward the rear. my hoyt only has the front hole, no rear.
|
RE: MeanV STS
NCTAXI,
My friend has one on his Alli and loves it. It mounts directly to the back of the riser and comes straight back. There is no interfearance with your bow arm as with the STS that mounts and then contours around to the string. I'm sure someone will post a pic. |
RE: MeanV STS
nctaxi, did he possibly tell you that because he doesn't carry them? ;)I'm telling you, it DOES make a difference; I put one of Dan's suppressors on every bow I own.
I like the fact that I can take everything off the string and pick up a few additional fps and let the suppressor do its work... I just went and snapped a couple pics for you; as soon as they're finished uploading, I'll throw them up here for you. |
