Don't be afraid to shoot a longer arrow to get the correct spine. That being said, if you are shooting a drop away, I would suggest that you try the axis 500 arrows with blazer vanes at the correct length to get spine you need. I used to try to avoid carbons because I was a believer in heavy arrows only for hunting. But the axis arrows have a good middle ground of weight per inch to give a balance of KE and momentum. Also, they are extremely tough, fly great, and penetrate really well.

Have you looked into the FMJ or SuperSlims? Best of both worlds with extra weight over the a/c/c.

I'm gonna try an experiment... I just ordered some weight tubes from 3RiversArchery. At 3gr/inch, that'll bump me up 75 grains off the bat. I got a dozen Goldtip 35/55 XT's fletched with blazers and another dozen with 4" vanes. Plus I have a dozen beman ICS 500's w/ vanes. I'm hoping by experimenting with point weight and fletching I can get one of those selections to work. We'll see.

You can also shoot a longer arrow if you want. This will put you into a stiffer spine and be heavier because of the length as well. You can also add weight to arrows fairly easy.
