RE: mathews 2003??

Yes but we wont know what with till after the AMO show. They keep there stuff hush hush. My guess with what theyll have, i think they have all of last years stuff (string suppresors, roller guard, harmonic damping, etc, etc) but on bows like the SQ2 and Q2XL. They got the Legacy, which killed the Q2. Now, theyll put the new stuff on some other bows for competition and hunting and stuff. I know they had the Icon, but if you draw it back, the wall is real spongy. Mostly for people with back problems. A great bow by all means, just not for everyone. Another thing, when they came out with the Q2, the next year they had the small and large Q series bows. Im not sure when but Mathews contract with Realtree X-tra Gray is up soon. Wonder what camo theyll have next? That will be kinda cool to see. I dont think thats for another year or two though.

RE: mathews 2003??

Hawgz, you may be right. Im just goin by trends. Mathews goes in two year increments. The Q2, next year was the Q2XL and SQ2. Then the Legacy, next year will probably be kinda the same with the Q series. I may be completely wrong though. Hopefully not, cause that means ill have to buy another bow to play with. That may not sit well with the parents. :)

tobyn, isn't the fin and feathers/sportsman basicaly a 30# genesis?, or is the 40 pounder not a 30-40, but where a low end draw is 40?

My &quot;predictions&quot; for Mathews 2003--

They will &quot;can&quot; the original conventional solo design and release their own version of a &quot;Hybrid&quot; in an attempt to directly compete with Hoyt and Darton and everyone else who will come out with one within the next year or two.

They will upgrade the roller guide to one that moves in tandem with the limbs and not create undue prestress.

They will further promote their &quot;New&quot; products through even more aggressive advertising on more Hunting programs and bowhunting magazines. (if that's possible!<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>)

They will try to entice more Pros to shoot their products by widening their Staff Shooter Program and paying more salary and contingency monies across the board in their attempt to remain #1.

Failure to do any of these things will result in an extremely fast tumble from the top of the heap, to be replaced by a company that offers both &quot;pure&quot; twin cam bows and hybrids, which will soon become the predominant systems of choice.

That's how the crystal ball reads, anyway. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> Pinwheel 12

Wow, Pinwheel. I don't think I've ever seen someone as biased against Mathews as you are that didn't outright admit to it. Most folks that that talk trash about Mathews as much as you will go ahead and outright say they hate Mathews. I work in the computer industry and it reminds me a lot of folks who are always trashing Microsoft. You'd think Mathews and Microsoft are both &quot;big evil companies&quot; run by Satan himself. I do have a Mathews bow, but it doesn't really bother me to see people trash them any more than it bothers me to see people trash Microsoft when I'm using a computer running Microsoft software. The least you could do would be to admit you hate Mathews, though. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Jason,

I didn't think Pinwheel was bashing Mathews. Just making a few predictions is all.
Actually, I feel, Mathews would do well to listen to Pinwheel's ideas about the improved roller guide and cams.

I emailed Mathews last week and asked if they were considering a hybrid cam system similar to Hoyt and Darton. They point blank told me they were not going to release anything similar to the systems used by Hoyt and Darton stating, &quot;we have not looked at using the systems that Darton and Hoyt are using.&quot;

Jason-
I wasn't bashing Mathews in the least, I was giving my predictions as to what I feel they must do to stay on top.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> I really have nothing against the company itself other than it had a few &quot;bonks&quot; over the years technically IMO, but really not much different than other companies have had. Matt is a brilliant salesman, so I figure he will follow some path similar to those predictions above as IMO it would be simply wise marketing tactics to do so, that's all.

Sag--
Thanks. I had hoped someone would understand my thinking! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Litework--
They haven't looked at it YET---maybe. (but I think they must have by now. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> Everyone is &quot;scrambling&quot; in the industry right now because there is a new (re-vamped) design in town getting alot of notice, and every manufacturer wants a piece of that action!) Good shooting, Pinwheel 12

RE: mathews 2003??

I'd bet we'll see longer risers and shorter limbs with steeper limb angles. What they need to do to get some of my money is to go to a modular cam with at least a 7.5 inch brace height with at least 330 IBO speeds and no rollers or suppressors or dampners. The last time I was at the local Mathews dealer they had probably 20 Mathews bows on the rack but not one of them was a 30 inch draw. Oh yes, side plates instead of a full wood grip.

That would be an awesome bow pinwheel , bears cabelgaurd ,dartons cam , might as well use martins bridged riser too , oh thats right they already have their cam ,then call it the newest &quot;breakthrough&quot; or &quot;original&quot; model .

We all have different oppinions , if we did'nt the world would be a BORING place

RE: mathews 2003??

If Matt was going to do anything other than continue the strictly one cam line in which Mathews is involved, he would have to start another company.

Let's see, he's already used McPherson and Mathews. The only thing left would be McMatt's. You could super size every bow for only $39 more.

RE: mathews 2003??

pinwheel my prediction is as follows.

1. new short bow (SQ2) with string dampers & roller guide.
2. new speed bow using a new cam with string dampers & roller guide.

I don't think we will ever see mathews make anything but a single cam bow, really why would they? itworks just fine for them & if everyone else runs off to do something else that is fine. mathews will still be the single cam people.

oh well I guess we just have to wait & see!

RE: mathews 2003??

Pup, I think we could see a 30 inch riser with 40 degree limb/riser geometry. That would be very close to a 40 inch ATA for indoors and finger shooting. While hunting today with my 34 inch ATA bow, I couldn't see why I'd ever need anything shorter for hunting. I think the manufactures are getting carried away with short ATA bows for draw lengths over 28 inches. I believe 34 to 37 inches is better for draws over 28 for hunting accuracy.

RE: mathews 2003??

I think you might see new risor design. Better grip!
I heard Jeff Hopkins is not shooting Conquest next year.
I beleive you will see good brace heigth bow with faster speeds.
Wouldnt surprise me to see Legacy xl.
Wont be long now. I ready for my new dealer bow.
