Mine are around 460 grains now. I used to hunt with 390 grain maximas. The worked great. I switched to a Vulcan and was able to go up to 460 grains and still shoot 25 fps faster than my Diamond Hornet with the Maximas.

Currrently, 393 grains with 100 gr. heads. Very soon, I'm going to the ST Axis which should kick this up to about 406 gr. I also have some light arrows that I would limit to turkeys and antelope only - also 3-D. They weigh 321 grains with 75 gr. heads.

This is a good question. The recomended weight is calculated on the weight and speed of the arrow leaving the bow.At testing, theres no peep, no string whiskers, no nothing. So couldnt a guy shave off a couple grains to make up for the way the string is slowed by all the accessories?
