Default Saw a Power Drop Rest & Some Info on New Mathews

For those of you interested I was at the shop & saw the new power drop by Golden Key. The rep was showing it off and they put it on a Mathews FX. It is a really neat idea and is amazingly simple. It was clean & machined very nice. it has a rod that pushes the launchers down when you release the bow. the rod butts up against the cables and when you release the force hits the rod & pushes the rest down. after the shot it returns to the "ready" position. The rest looks a GKF rest with the addition of the piston & rod housing. When shot the rest made no noise and seemed to be a solid design. I think this one is going to be a winner when it gets to production & is introduced at the AMO show. It had some very nice machining done on the rod housing. not bad at all for pre-production.

well that is my take on it so far. hard to judge when you havn't got to play with it yourself. the design seems sound and I think it will hold up well. as with anything time will tell.

now if I could only have got the news on what mathews has coming out! they did tell me that mathews was waiting on final patent stuff so that is why the reps arn't even seeing anything. They said we may not see all the new stuff this year but they had a few things interesting coming along. They did say to expect a new speed bow....take it for what it means. it could mean nothing at this time!

I also heard about Eastons new distribution scale for dealers & how they want you to carry "X" amount of aluminum ratio compared to carbon. really it seems that easton my be making a big mistake as far as the little shops go. my dealer is dropping his direct dealership because of it, he said he would sit on the aluminums and he can't afford to do that. He said he is going to push carbon express & maybe vapor to make up for the loss in eastons stuff. he did say he would continue to sell easton for now by ordering through Papes but in the future hopes to weed them out since carbon is in and a lot of companies are very active trying to entice dealers into selling their products. He said Eastons plan is a killer for him & so he will just go through other methods to sell their stuff now.

sorry that I really didn't get much more than that but I just wanted to share what I got.

I am not trying to cause trouble or anything but with a rod back to the cables could this rod be caught on a branch and be bent or broken?

I have not seen the rest yet just trying to picture it in my mind.

Ausie-guy from what I saw it sits real close to the cable rod and would really be hard to catch and bend it. since I only saw it for a bit i couldn't really say for sure but I don't see how and if you did you would know before you applied enough force to bend it. it looked really solid.
