Default Switching arrows, any suggestions?

The ONLY carbons I've shot are Carbon Express 200's & 300's. They've performed ok but then again, I dont have anything to compare them to. The one thing I think they lack is durability so with some Christmas Cash I'm going to try something new. Here's where you can help.
I shoot 71#, 28.5inch arrow with a mechanical release, from a Merlin Lite Storm solo with a fall-away rest. What I want is an arrow around 8 grains per inch, straightness of .003 or so that is more durable than my CX's. I'd like to keep the total arrow weight between 360-390 grains but I'm bendable up to 400ish.
thanks in advance for your help. I'm out looking on all the arrow maker's web sites to find a good fit but I'd like to hear from those who've used these arrows for the "straight skinny" no pun intended.

Cargo,I think you'll have to go a ways to beat the C/E. I shoot the 3-D Selects 200's and I love these arrows and have had great sucess with them as compared to any other carbon arrow. If there is a down side to them it's there lite mass wt. (7 gr.per inch if I not mistaken?) So for hunting I add wt. tubes to pickup some more wt. and momentum. The only other cabon that I found with good spec's and spine pre dozon is ACC's. but I found the 3-D Selects to be more durable. Jerry

CargoF16,Like Jerry said your already shooting a well made arrow.I dont know what you mean by a more durable arrow, but im going to take a guess on maybe the arrows splitting at the nock if you hit something really hard. You can install acc 3-60 uni-bushings and G-nocks to make them more durable.I think that is the correct size but not positive.Ive also shot the pse arrows which i feel are of the same quality.Ive heard good and bad about the gold tips but cant comment since i havent used them.Good Luck!!

I shoot the CX300's and seem to have durability problems as well. Splayed nock ends, splayed behind the insert and various shards of material coming off. Now I'm pretty hard on all my gear, but out of 12 shafts bought in Sept. I'm down to 5 that are useable. Do i just need to lighten up on my equipment?? I thought they fell apart a little too easily but I figured it was just me until Cargo's post???

I would give The Gold Tip XT's a try. THey are the strongest arrow I've ever shot. I have switched from ICS HAwks to ICS Hunters and Finally To goldtip XT. I think I found one that I'm happy with. Depending on which shaft you should use 5575 or 7595 You should also be right around the overall weight you're looking for.

really I am a big fan of Easton & Beman's shafts. I like the Easton ACC's the best but they are expensive. The Beman ICSH shafts are good hunting arrows. the redlines are great carbon arrows. The vapor shafts seem to be a good alternative as well. PSE makes a good carbon too.

Just throwing in my .02.

I've been shooting GT 5575 for two years. I bought 1/2 dozen, and I am still using them. I only have one that I threw away because it splitted. I hit tree and fence couple times, but the arrow is still good. This year my friend gave me his 1/2 dozen too. I just cut them to my length, and I don't think I'll have to buy arrow soon.

Cargo, take a look at the SME Epsilons. The weight should be in the range you want, and they're nearly bulletproof.

Thanks for all the advice. After much contemplating and surfing I've realized that by keeping my arrows at 5gr/lb (around 8gr/inch for me) I'm not setting myself up for a durable arrow, after all at that weight they can only get so beefy.
I was at the pro shop and after much lookin and talkin I bought a half dozen Easton Epic 400's. $22 for 6 shafts, cut (wow). They were about the only thing (aside from ACC's) that they had, at the weight I wanted. Gold Tips I couldnt get under 400gr with a good FOC, ACC's just dont appeal to me with aluminum inside, they didnt have any Vapor Speeds and I dont know what an SME Epsilon is but I would try them if they are bulletproof.
This search is not over.

Happy Holidays
