I was thinking of switching to mechanical for next season. Would it not make a difference shooting an XT?

Again, with your set up it probably won't make a difference.
An XT or any other bow carrying that muck Ke will do a good job w/ mechanicals.
Don't go too light on arrow wieght as you will loose Ke and penetration.

Just make sure you're not thinking of going to mechs as a way out of doing the necessary tuning.

I've shot a ton of deer with both fixed and mechs, and waffle back and forth based upon the mood I'm in. But... my reasons for wanting to shoot mechs usually revolve around being in the mood to get a larger wound channel.
