wisker biscuit thoughts........
This might be a dumb idea... but was just thinking... what if you cut a few individual wiskers out of the biscuit? Not a lot... still keep enough to hold the arrow and to dothe job it was intended for......
maybe cut a few to reduce drag...... wear and tear..... any thoughts???? |
RE: wisker biscuit thoughts........
The whisker biscuit is my all time favorite "go to" fixed rest. They are rough on feathers however. All I can say is to try it and share your experience with the rest of us who are too chicken(like me) to modify our rest.

RE: wisker biscuit thoughts........
I just put a WB on my Tribute. I've heard that going to 2'' Blazer vanes solves the chewing up issue, plus they help stablize bh's.

RE: wisker biscuit thoughts........
I have tried it, and there are good points, but more bad ones.
Pros: You do get the fletch to pass through a little easier. It really only made a difference with "soft" fletch like AAE Plastifletch and Duravanes. You might gain 1-2 fps. Cons: You are no longer guaranteed even fletch contact, it depends on which bristles you cut and how many. It is much easier for the arrow to be bumped into, or drawn into one of the gaps instead of having to stay in the middle hole. I saw no improvement in accuracy. I saw no difference in vane wear when using Blazers, Vanetecs, AAE Speedflytes, Bohning, etc. |
RE: wisker biscuit thoughts........
Yeah.... I've been chicken to do that typoe of mod also......
I actually been thinking about since last fall when I noticed some veins starting to peel.... and it has been, it seems, the same location (vein)on the arrow.... I was just wondering if anyone else had the same thought as I...... Thanks for the replies..! |
RE: wisker biscuit thoughts........
You probably already know this, but the darker colored bristles on the bottom of the WB are stiffer, longer wearing material than all the other bristles. Set your cock fletching (odd fletching) in the verticle position from your rest. The two bottom fletching will strattle the harder stiffer bristles at the bottom of the WB and will give you MUCH longer fletching life and MUCH more consistant accuracy. Flinch

I think if you do a search you can find the "proper" way to trim your biscuit. It's been recommended by lots of people.
