New Fuse Strings....
I have been shooting my Vectrix for a week now, and have close to 200 arrows through it (I know, I need to shoot more). Anyway, today I went to the shop to tune her proper now that she is all broken in. Once I was there, I nocited the serving on the cables was starting to seperate. Almost like the problem that Mattews had last year, where the buss cable rolls over the cam, it is cutting into the serving. I didnt see any sharp spots, so I think it is just the torque placed on the serving as it rolls over.
We also had to play with the nock point, and when we untied the loop, we saw that the serving had seperated there too. Then, after more inspection of the cable ends, we noticed that alot of the serving, particularly over the sharp bends, was seperating. Anyway...I am no expert, but my coach also noted that the quality of the string seemed inferior. I had heard thatFuse reworked their string manufacture process this year, but I dont see any improvement. Gibblet, check your pm...:D |
RE: New Fuse Strings....
I agree, Fuse strings are the weakness of the Fuse line, IMO...Hoyt just needs to go all out and use Winner's Choice or Vapor Trail...maybe gibblet could get a big time deal w/ Hoyt and make all their strings.... And to think, Fuse redid their strings this year because they secretly had problems with them LAST year...I don't think they are any better, but that's just me.
I'll also be ordering some gibblet strings in the next week or so.....Christmas for my kids is a little more important right now, but they're comin! |
RE: New Fuse Strings....
the part i didn't get was they said they had re-machined their string making facility, and the machines were never the problem. when you don't even know which direction to serve the string, that's more important than what machine you use.
ok, BURN (in string maker world - that was a burn), and i only do it because of all the crud fuse has talked about their strings. remember the huge advertising last year? |
RE: New Fuse Strings....
It seems hoyt and mathews should stay away from the sting making business. Very rarely do you here anything good about their strings.

RE: New Fuse Strings....
Gibblet,I had my string maker, whom also happens to be a level 4 coach explain to me they don't serve them properly also.
He guestimated that it was for a reason,we both know you should serve in the same direction as the twist butmost manufacturers do one end with the twist and the other end against the twist. He stated that he thought it had to do with how much strings get untwisted and twistedto fit certain draw lengths and it would actually be a benefit not to have all the serving going with the twist to keep it all from coming undone. My theory is it is a production problem and no one wants to take the extra time to serve it properly. I actually emailed Hoyt a few years ago and told them they needed to serve with the twist but got no response. It really doesn't make any sense why they can't do it right. Other than cost. |
RE: New Fuse Strings....
you can't get away w/ serving a section wrong. you may be able to get away w/ it until the weather gets cold on a single cam string, but never on a dually, hybrid, or binary. it makes the peep go crazy on shorter strings, and on long single cam ones - all may look well until it gets cold - and then your peep will be pointing the wrong way by about a quarter turn.

RE: New Fuse Strings....
I bought a Used hoyt and the strings on it looked in pretty good shape. They were tan and brown (not sure of the importance there). But when I picked out the bow my brother told me to get Vapor Trails instead of those stock strings. He has shot vapor trails for the last 3 years and loves them. I thought they were just a thing up here until someone mentioned them in this post. I have had mine for almost a year now and as long as I keep them waxed they look brand new. I am very impressed with them.

RE: New Fuse Strings....
The last hoyt I owned came with awefull srtings , the cabels had maybe 3-4 twists over their hole length .
With the money you pay for hoyt , and mathews , you would think they could put a decient string on them. Bowtech , and Pearson , definately get points for putting great quality strings on their bows from the factory . |
RE: New Fuse Strings....
