Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
Man have some things changed for this year. I like the feel of the new vector cam, and the bows are much smoother with the built in sts type system. 11 of the 16 bows havehad MAJOR overhauls. I am getting my new 38 pro on order. Tree stand hunters may like the new trycon sport that has a 29 1/2 in ata. Hoyt engineers sure have been busy.
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
Lucky you. They are not even listed on Hoyt's website yet.
I have to stop looking at these theads, the last thing I need to do is start drooling over new model bows.;) |
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
Man, don't hold back now!! Tell me more!! My pro shop guy has been out sick for the last 3 weeks....We're expecting the new Hoyt's in when he reopens, I can't wait!
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
The new bow models are the vectrix, vectrix xl,38 pro, 38 ultra, vulcan, trykon sport, trycon jr,avenger, and montega. the new cam is the c2 which is cam and 1/2 technology and more draw length specific. It has adjustable draw stops and adjustable let off.
Our rep was in today and I fell in love with the 38 pro. It shot VERY smooth. Side by side there was no comaprison between my protec and the new 38 pro. mobowhuntr, I see that you shoot the ultratec now. The 38 ultra would probably suit your fancy. You will be amazed at the difference. When we spoke with the engineers this last year, they said the best was yet to come, and they were absolutely correct. |
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
Dude, it's gonna have to be something REALLY special to out shoot my UltraTec....So, are they making the UltraTec this year?? Can't wait to see them!!
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
The ultratec and the protec are GONE. Yep, I was mess too until I shot the 38 pro. They have made some outstanding improvements. I know its hard to comprhend, as it was me. But I am sold on the 38 pro, which seems to be the replacement for the protec. Like I said, you might want to check out the 38 ultra.
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
WOW! I can't believe that legacy is gone by the wayside. But, I'll certainly check them all out. I work at the shop, so I'll be shooting a new bow in January. I will check that one out for sure. Thanks.

RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
Hey Elk,I saw pictures on another site and didn't like the new lines on the 38 pro as well as the ones on my 06 Protec. Was it just the picture or does the Pro look more like what the Protec looked a few years ago.
It is really the same bow(geometry) with a different cam but I loved the way the 06 looked as well as shot. I am not buying this year so it really doesn't matter, more of an observation.:eek:I have already sold my 06 Protec WHICH I LOVED but quit shooting competitively,so it was a shame to have such a nice bow lying under my bed, so I sold it.[:o] I figured the draw length specific cams were coming,I like them but the spiral was just a bit too much for me,glad to see they have toned them down a bit. |
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
I just hope with the DL specific cams they are able to keep up.....That Trykon kicked their butts last year. Instead of building 1 bow for 4 people, they have to build 4 bows for 4 people.....
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
4 people can't shoot the same bow.;)They just have to build 4 different bows with 4 differentcams, strings, cables configurations.
It is just the dealer now has to order 4 bows instead of 1. There has to be asmart@$$ in every crowd and I usually volunteer.:D |
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
Yeah, but they still have to build 4 bows.....right? ;)
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
They had to build 4 bows before.
I quit.Just kiddin around[8D] Looks like the Pro has a 2" longer riser than the Protec had last year. The Ultra and the Pro utilize the same riser(HEY ARTHUR,DEFLEX) (this might help them keep up on production) but the Pro has the XT2000 limbs where the Ultra has the Xt1000 limbs. The Pro has the new c2 cam and the Ultra has the vector cam. |
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
The manual shows that you can get either in the cam and 1/2 also, but it slows the ultra 10 fps and the pro 5 fps. But it gives a little bit more fexability. I had to go back to the shop tonight to talk things over with the guys. It is always more like group therapy. I did get my order solidified tonight and everything is a go. I broke out the pro-elite and shot some vegas targets while I was there. It sure felt good...............
One cool thing about the c2 is that the letoff is adjustable, and that helps us Idahoans a bit because we still have the 65% letoff rule in effect. Now our bows that have the c2 do not have to be special ordered in the 65% letoff. We can just change the setting in the shop and put 2 twists in the buss cable and we are good to go. It should help in getting bows quicker to customers, and will make things easier for fish and game when they check our equipment because it is clearly stamped for them to see. |
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
Here is a copy that I scanned from the manual of the two bows that we are talking about. The riser is almost a cross of the older and newer design.

RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
Anything new in the way of a "speed" hunting rig?
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
The vectrix and the vectrix xl are 316 and 315. The vulcan seems to be the quickest with and IBO of 325. The axle to axle is 33 inches on the vulcan, with a brace height of 6 inches. The cool thing about these bows is the sts type system on it, makes it seem like a longer brace height bow. I am not a short brace height guy, but this bow shot rather well.....
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
Did you get a chance to drw the new vector cam? The vectrix and vectrix XL look good to me. Her's a pic I stole from another site...

RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
yep!! I had a chance to shoot them all. I even ended an early scouting trip for late season deer so I could go shoot them. All I was finding this a.m. was a bunch of elk anyway. I think this will be a great year for Hoyt.
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
I wonder if Fuse will change the color of their accessories to meet the color change associated with the new Hoyt lineup?
From copper accents to black. I liked the copper but the black looks pretty good as well. Boy, I was seriously considering straying away from Hoyt in '07 and looking elsewhere. But the Vectrix is calling my name. My backup bow might quickly become my primary bow. :D |
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
SWEET. Gotta at least shoot one. Don't think there is anyway I could be able to get one this year though. I still love my Trykon so I better stick with it for a while.
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
Hmmmmmm
Maybe I wont be investing in a backup Darton just yet;)! |
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
Got any pics of the other bows? Trykon, Vulcan ect...
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
well, i've got no problems w/ my trykon xl at 60# and 30" draw, but can i just swap cams and make it a vectrix xl if i want to?
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
John,
That is EXACTLY what I was wondering. Also if I can use the new cams will I need to get some new cables from you?? Hope someone can answer that. |
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
How did the Vulcan shoot?? I am very interested in it...
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
For a short brace height bow, I was surprised with the vulcan. The sts type system makes the bow more shootable than it would be without. I don't know it the cams can be put on an older model. I will try to find out!!!!
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
any time you change equipment you need new strings and cables - really even if your car gets a tune-up, or just $2 worth of gas - you need new strings and cables :D
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
droolling uncontrollably... i think it will be time to make my Vtec a back up bow:D
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
Sweetness, I can't wait to get my hands on one of those little guys. I'll probably shoot mine for another year or so. Well.... maybe not we'll just have to see how they feel.:D
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
I was holding off and looking forward to seeing what Hoyt had up and coming.Thank you for the info!It looks like my Razer tech will get a new brother:)How much are these bows or what do you think they will be retailing for?ALso when will they be available at some of the shops?
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
Also I would like to add,I like the lines curves of these newer ones compared to the sharp edges of the trycon. No offence trycon shooters;)
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts

RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
well, do this years hoyts have the adjustable draw lengths or are they draw length specific also id like to know what is a rough guesstimate of the vectrix bare bow
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
I believe the cam is DL specific, but you can still get them in the cam and a half, which isn't.....Not 100% on that though.
|
RE: Got to shoot the 2007 Hoyts
Is this new cam smooth? And how is the stop?
