I have several Mathews bows and on some I have heard a cracking type noise when bottoming out the limbs. It hasn't seemed to affected the bow tune or shootability but after reading the previous thread on this issue I'm really concerned that I might have some cracked limbs under the bolts and hidden by the limb pockets!
How hard would it be to disassemble the bows (have two MQ-1's, an SQ-2, Ultra 2 and Q2) to check for this posible damage? I do have a bow press although I've never fully disassembled a bow yet. I'd like to learn this anyway but don't have a local shop that is convient or reliable.
Thanks< MQ

I did this once before on my press and am too much of a novice to say that it was easy. I premeasured everything on my bow. Brace height, upper and lower tiller, nock set, peep location..the whole works. Then let off the limb bolts about 5 turns each (from bottomed out). Then I Put it in the press, took off the string and cables and removed it from the press. I took off both limbs and lined the limb pockets with a layer of rubber innertube.
Then the fun part came. I stood there with a Uh-Oh look on my face trying to figure out which way the string went around the cam, or was that where the cable fed through.
I finaly got it all back together and felt a sigh of relief when I pulled it back and everything rolled smoothly. If your gonna do it make sure you take it apart and put it back together on the same day.
I know some of the pros will read my post and laugh, I'm just trying to warn you that it can be fun doing it for the first time.
Now that I think about it, I heard some crunchy sounds the last time I made sure one of my bows limbs were buttoned down....By George I think it was my Mathews!! Guess I need to check mine out also.
More free limbs from mathews????
Oh wait I think the other thread said the new split limbs on mathews were no problem-lol!!

It's 7 turns out before you press it.Mine made a poppin sound and all I had to do was sand the limb pockets a little, the camo process was what making it pop.

Mine was the bow that the original thread was about and they were the black limbs, so no one's safe!!!
