RE: Schaffer Rest Problem?

I dont have experience with the schafer , I do with the qad ,. If you decide to take the schafer off , I would look at the vaportrail limbdriver rest , Its less expensive than the quad , and preforms much better .

thanks for the additional advice.

WIhunter402... not Michigan... New York. I hunt in a place named Wiccopee. If I decide to sell the Schaffer I'll give you a yell... it isn't a cheap rest so I'm not giving up yet.

I had a new version of the Schaffer on my Trykon also. I loved the look and way it fit, but I couldn't get it tuned. I sold it after alot of time wasted, and bought the Nap Smart Rest. No tuning problems at all.

RE: Schaffer Rest Problem?

Trykon... that's good to know.

Problem is "almost solved". I raised the knocking pt... the shop had it way too low.. and also lengthened the cord slightly. Now when I shoot cock vane down every now and then I get a very slight touch on the widest part of the cock vane.... some of this is corrected by realigning the arrow knocks. When I shoot cock vane up I'm still hitting both of the other vanes for about an inch right at the forward tip of both vanes.I may still need to lengthen the draw cord a little more.

Question: it dawned on me when I was going through this exercise that being this is my first drop away rest I did not know if the cock vane should be up/down or doesn't matter??? Which way should it be?

I was told by the pro shop who installed it originally that it should be shot cock vane down. Although I found it shot both ways about the same even with the rub like you indicated that you got on the vanes when shooting up. Both vanes hit on mine too, but it seemed to be pretty even so that is why i think it shot decent. Just not good enough for me. I'm a little fussy when it comes to my equiptment, even though it shoots better than I do regardless.

RE: Schaffer Rest Problem?

Not a problem. Yes if you do give up PM me as I may be interested. As for the cock vane I don't think it really matters much. I have the Trophy Taker on my Trykon and I shoot the cock vane up.I get a little contact if I don't have it lift the arrow in the last 2 inches. I think if you lengthen the cord just a bit you will have good luck. Keep me posted.
