I've read in several threads that string wax with silicone is now recommended. Since I also fish, it made me wonder if a product called Reel Magic could be used on strings? It's silicone with a UV protector added in.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back on this, too much OT at work. This morning I took a 1 cup measuring cup and just covered the bottom with Reel Magic. Then, I took a whole tube of textite and melted it with a hair dryer, in the cup. The dryer did a good job of mixing the two. I put the wax back in the original container to solidify. I found it gave the wax a softer texture, melted and soaked into the string and cable with only finger pressure.I might have gotten away with more Magic, but I was concerned about making the wax runny. It could probably use a little more. I used roughly 1/8 ounce or just a little less.

Give it a shot, but be careful of how much Magic you use. I haven't had a chance to shoot yet, but I don't forsee any of the balling effect I got with straight wax. I could feel the silicone difference in the wax.
