Absolutely ! there is a small tool that you can pick up from your local pro shop ,it's about $5.00 ,and it's purpose is for seperating your string to instal your peep .but if you don't want to buy it you can do it with a very dull butter knife or a fine screw driver ,seperate the string's and slip in the peep ,just that easy .Be real careful not to break any threads .

SHHHHHHH ,John ,no seriously you can use a dull knife as long as your just separating the string with it ,then you can stick a round pen between it and install the peep .C,mon John you know that this is an easy way of doing it ,not the best way but if your carefull it'll do the job .I use seperating tool myself .

i would never try it ever, used a flat spuer dull piece of plastic one time and the bow blew up in my face theres alot of tention on newer bow strings just dont risk it at least compress it alittle and get the peep in. then you can slid it around with the tension pretty easily.

Yes it is possible specially if it is a dual cam bow ( I have not tried this with a single cam yet)all you need is 2 screw drivers.

Draw the bow 1/2 way back get some one to place the screw drivers in the cams, slowly let down so the screw drivers lock onto the limbs this should put enough slack into the string to seperate the strands for installation of the peep.

But it is a lot safer to use a press

Yep. Easier on your string too.

have a friend help you. Pull back on your bow and have a friend put a screw driver shank in one of the cam holes so that when you release the string, it jams the cam and the string is slack. Do the necessary work on the bow, then draw .... take shank out and your good

It is a single cam bow.Maybe I should find a person with a press huh? To be specific its a Bowtec 2004 Extreme VFT. I bought it on ebay. The guy that owned it just had a kisser button on it, no peep. I have always used a peep. The string and cable are in good shape. Its my first bowtech. I had a Mathews,I have wanted a Bowtech for a long time. I cant wait to shoot it!! Its supposed to be really fast. I just gotta get a peep and a rest. The guy left the sight on it. Thanks for the replies. I dont know if I want to risk breaking my bow or the string.
