Can anyone tell me if this release can be used as a string release?

Do you mean attached right to the string? If so I wouldn't do it. I'd definitley go with a loop. I would always use a loop, but that's just me.

That release is made to hook directly to the bow string.

As ususal I failed to communicate. Sorry guys. I meant can this be used on a string loop as opposed to directly on the string like I usually use do. Last night when I pulled back on my release my arrow dropped off at full draw. I almost dropped a load!

Dnk The C-10 is not designes to be hooked to a loop. Although it can be hooked to a loop it is very cumbersom and very slow to do so. The problem is that once fired or in the "disconnect" position the little hook that flips up into the release gets blocked by the trigger mechanism. You must reach around with your finger and manually close the hook around the loop.

What it was actually designed to do is snap closed when you push it against the bow string.

Winn Archery has two models that are specifically designed to connect to a loop. The "loop hook" and the "SS Caliper".

bigbulls, have you handled one of these? If so what did you think? The one on the top looks like it might come off the loop if mis-handled.

Winn makes great releases. The only reason I don't have one myself is the glove is too stiff for my liking.

The loop hook won't come off the loop. It is "grooved" so that the loop sits down in the groove right up next to the head and can't slip out unless you do some kind of contortionist stuff. It is the same release as the C-10 but with out the bar to enclose it. You still have to close it yourself but you go ahead and lock it closed long before you ever see any deer and being open like it is the "hook" slips right into the loop when you need it to rather than you needing to fiddle with it when you are trying to shoot a deer like you would have to do with the C-10.

I haven't played with the SS caliper because I don't like single caliper releases.
