Default New Materials for Making Strings and Cables?

It's been a lot of years since I've helped out in several pro shops. Time just didn't allow it any more with building my home etc....I have made hundreds of strings over the years but I'm sure since that time materials have changed, or have they. So I'm asking the string techs here, What material is numero uno today.

I have a full pro shop setup in my basement and need to make a new string and cables for my Hoyt....plus, I'm thinking about buying a new bow, possibly a Switchback and the first thing I do is, change the string and cable to my own....I prefer it that way...

So again, let me know the latest and greatest guys, what material should I be purchasing? Thanks.

i like 452x rob. like 8125 its pure dyneema, but there is a strand of vectran inside each strand of the 452x. the added strength of the vectran allows each strand to be thinner than 8125. its a few fps slower than 8125, but really, really stable. in fact, you don't need too much tension on it while serving to keep it from seperating. 20 strands will do for 70# and under. i don't use any brownell stuff. i used to use their serving but you can never get the same color twice and sometimes its great, and somtimes there are fuzzballs every couple feet.

The choice will be different if you're looking for speed, vs building a string that will not stretch.

I prefer Ultracam for stability. It has the highest % of vectran which is a string material that will not stretch at all. It's durability is fine. I've built many strings from it, and they have all lasted for many thousands of shots.

i'd say straightarrow and i think so. they're similar, but 'processed' by different companies. we're both 'no stretch' guys as opposed to the extra 4-5 fps guys. if you're after that there is 8125 or ts1+
