Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
I am pissed.... I have shot for years and have never had problems like I am having now with my 05 Allegiance. I like the idea of the binary cams and I like the speed of this bow, but I can not get it to tune as well as it should.
My goal is to have field points and broadheads hit the same spot.. . . and bareshafts also in a perfect world. I have had no problems doing this in the past with any one of my bows. I am also the guy that my friends come to to help tune their bows, and once again, no problems. I have shot numerous arrows with all different spines and tip weights and just cant get it. I thought I was there today when I got 5 arrows ( gold tip pro 7595s / 125 grn tip )to ALL group in the ten spot at 25 yrds, 3 times in a row, but then I shot some broadheads. The broadheads were diving down and to the right. I proceeded to paper tune to try to fix the problem, but I cant get away from the frickin downward tear ( field tip down ) Tried adjusting the nock height and its not that. No visable flecting interference with the Mach 4 / Trap Door. Adjustment after adjustment, still same shi-. That may suggest too weak of a spine right? Well, I used lighter tips all the way down to a 75 grn and same story. I hate to think that I have to shoot Gold Tip 100+ arrows with an 80# Allegiance, but could that be the answer???? I really think that something is jazzed up with this bow. Has anyone ever had a problem like this?? My 05 Black Knight did what I wanted it to do within 15 minutes. Today I spent 6 hours at the range with the allegiance and its gettin to me. What else can a man do??? |
RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
measure yourcenter shotfrom the riser and let us know

RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
1 inch and it varies when i was tuning. what does that have to do with a downward tear?
|
RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
I bought the first Allegiance my local shop got in and set it up and have not had one problem w/ it....I'm curious about whats going on with yours...Keep us informed

RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
I'm also shooting an 05 Allegiance and don't have any complaints here. Simply the best shooting bow I've had in years. I liked it so much in fact that I just got a steal on a new Old Glory on ebay to use as a target bow.

RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
To what extent are you guys tuning your bow. for example where are your field points hitting in relation to youbroadheads? how is it bareshafting?

RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
My allegiance was a great shooting bow, until I changed the strings and cables. UGH. My bow used to shoot broaheads and fieldtips to the same point. Put brand new Winners Choice, set and things are not as good as they used to be. I must take some blame. I probably took a full twist out of the top of the string and a a twist and a half out of the bottom to get the peep to rotate. THe bow shot like ****, when it came to shooting broadheads after the new string. I put the twists back in and it still shoots like ****. I have owned 4 bowtechs. One 03 patriot dually, one 03 pro 40 dually. One 05 allegiance and an 05 allegiance frame with 05 bk dually cams. I can say tbis, with pure certainty.....all bows shot great until creep occurred. Then they do not perform as well unless you stay on top of them. I am about done with it. And I do know how to tune the duallys...they are easier, as you stated, to keep in tuned. I am SERIOUSLY thinking about going back to hoyt.

zouk you ought to let me hook you up.

RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
Ole brother Gibblet, I think I need help! What do you suggest?
|
RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
some better strings.
i know some people have got things fixed up by getting a sims slide and hooking the cord to that (the cord goes to the opposite side of the cable guard so no contact) and it gets all the tension off the cable. even a little tension on that down cable throws those bows out of whack for some folks. |
RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
"The broadheads were diving down and to the right."
Which broad heads are you using? Just move the rest up and to the left, this is the direction the nock of the arrow is being "thrown". Go in small increments to try to resolve the problem, you might try stiffer arrows also. |

RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
My Allegiance tuned very well with broadheads with little work. I shoot mechanicals primarily, but do use fixed blade muzzy's while tuning to assure the best tune. After tuning with field points and mechs, I was surprised to see my fixed heads grouping very close to everything else. A little adjustment and it was perfect out to 45 yards.
Mizzouki, The replacement strings really shocks me. I would think that for the most part, the WC strings would actually shoot better once they settle. I never had that type of problem with WC, though I haven't replaced my strings on my Allegiance yet. |
RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
I own an 05 allegiance , field tips and broadheads hit together . Im useing a Trophy Taker shakey hunter rest . I believe the problem you are haveing is related to the rest you are useing . Trapdoor rests drop very quickly , to fast IMO for proper fixed broadhead flight . The 05 allegiance bows have a massive centershot , which is offset from the center of the grip . This can cause left to right issues , but up and down issues are generaly an easy fix with nockpoint adjustment , if you have tryed this , and thats not the case , I would assume its a rest problem . I have heard of noone with cam timeing issues , or up and down nock travel issues with these bows. I doubt you have missmatched limbs , but its posable . Try another rest .

RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
ijimmy, what is your draw weight, arrow specs, and centershot measurement off the riser?
|
RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
kilnbux , I shoot 28"s at 60 lbs , a 28 inch 400 spine beman matrix shaft , around 400 grains with 5" feathers and a 100 grain muzzy . Im not 100 % on the centershot as Im at work and the bows home , but I believe its very close to 1" . The bow shoots around 260 fps + .
Two other things I thought of that may help you are 1 Make sure you are useing enough fletching , I like 3 , 5" feathers or 4 , 4" feathers , and 2 Bottom out both limb bolts , and take one turn out of the bottom limb and see if that helps . |
RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
Not every bow is a clone. Some have slight deviations in manufacturing. Are the cams aligned? Have you checked for any slight twists in a limb? There are many things that can cause poor broadhead flight. Unless no one with this bow can get a broadhead to fly like a fieldtip, then I would bet it's not the bow design.

RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
have an 05 and have shot 2000+ arrow through it and no probs......my Muzzy's shot right with my field tips.....shoot Carbon Express CXL's, 28 inch draw @ 60 lbs.....make sure your arrows have enough spine for what you are shooting.......my buddy bought some Bemans on Ebay and can't hold a group to save his rear........went back to shooting his Easton's and no probs......might try different arrows.....just a thought

RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
Sorry about that last post, working on how to get the "quote feature" to work. I meant to copy..."I shoot 28"s at 60 lbs , a 28 inch 400 spine beman matrix shaft , around 400 grains with 5" feathers and a 100 grain muzzy ." and say, "WHAT A GREAT SET UP! I love those shafts. Have 2 dozen 400s and 2 dozen 340s in my garage, since they are discontinued. ..As I posted before, I had NO problems with my allegiance, until I changed the string. I now have it tweaked back to the original length and things are much better. It took some work. THis is a great bow. I love the back wall. I actually am a big fan of the bowtech duallys, having owned patriot and pro 40 duallys. I had a custom type of dually made up that shoots like crazy. It isthe best shooting bow that I have put my hands o. It is an allegiance with bkII cams. It has a super solid back wall and really shoots nice. The ata comes out to be longer than the allegiance with binary cams.....

RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
I know that many 70# allegiance owners swear by their bow and that the bow practically tunes itself, but are there any 80# Allegiance shooters out there? My poundage is actually at 84 and at that poundage, its a little trickier to tune.
|
RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
Mine peaks out at 83 lbs. It also tuned like a dream with the factory set up. It is grouping bheads about 3 inches off field pts at 30 yards now with the new string and cables. Ill take that.
|
RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
what arrow length and spine are you shooting?
|
RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
I have shot 300 spine arrows at 28 inches and 340 spined arrows at 28 inches to the same point. I have my bow set at 78 lbs.
|
RE: Whats the deal with the 05 Allegiance?
I am shooting my Alligiance at 60lbs, 30" draw, GT 400 UL pros 29.5" 100 grain Muzzys, and G5 montecs( 383grains) ,297fps. This was by far the the most simple bow to tune with broadheads. Field points and broadhaeds hit the same out to 45 at 60yards there is about 1.5- 2" lower with the broadheads.
If the trap door is your favorite rest keep trying it, I would say try another rest I have been using 3D Super Stars for over 12 years with absolute success. Just try another rest. The Allegiance has to be one of the most user freindly tune bows out there. Best regards and have a peacful New Year Allan |
