Elite Archery???
Kate said the web site should be up next week with a few sneak photos. www.elitearchery.com I cant wait, I feel like a kid Christmas eve. I am also looking forward to seeing the aftermarket cams. Want to shoot a E-500 when I get a chance. Brian

RE: Elite Archery???
The website is up with just a home page with some pictures of the cams. Cant wait for the rest. They will have a lineup of four bows to be released in January.
|
RE: Elite Archery???
Pictures of the dual cams won't show for me.:( I am mainly interested in two things..........their bow lineup and the address. Wonder if its Walla Walla, Washington?
|
RE: Elite Archery???
The address is 4911 106 th Street NE Marysville Wa 98270

RE: Elite Archery???
Yep,, looks like a Binary copy to me, three string posts and three string tracks on each mirror image cam profile[&:]
|
RE: Elite Archery???
you know good and well he doesn't have to copy anything. (where's the 3rd?)
|
RE: Elite Archery???
gibblet:
If you go to the web site, or look at the thread "Elite Archery Pics" and you can see the back side of the cams. They be binaries, though they don't look all that much like the Bowtech ones, other than the general function. Definitely different machining. |

Sharkey, you are sure good with those pics!:D

RE: Elite Archery???
I could care less who copies who or bases their design after. Every archery manufacturer has taken something from each other in hopes to make a better product.......each and every one! That's what patents are for and every manufacturer pays each other to use their ideas, some pay more than others.
If Elite's promises pans out..........I will seriously consider making a purchase of one of their bows. Wouldn't it be cool to shoot one of KS's designs with laminated limbs and not have to pay $700? Hopefully it pans out......competition is good and is the true innovator behind proven products. |
RE: Elite Archery???
ORIGINAL: Cougar Mag Hopefully it pans out......competition is good and is the true innovator behind proven products. Just a ?. Not trying to start a huge fight, but does Kevin own the patent for binary cams or is it registered to Bowtech. Can someone look up patents and see if he registered it under his own name or Bowtech. Just wondering. Brian |
RE: Elite Archery???
I am pretty juiced about seeing what they come out with. Does it look like each cam has a draw stop?
|
RE: Elite Archery???
my understanding is kevin owns the patent on the infinity, but not the binaries bowtech uses. i'm not sure how much of a change you need to make a different binary system your own. laminated limbs, yep!
thanks joepa, now its pretty easy to see. |
RE: Elite Archery???
Considering how Kevin burned his bridges and made some VERY bad professional decisions, it will be interesting to see how far he can go in this industry.:(;)
|
RE: Elite Archery???
obviously there are some people out there, uh hum, who are going to try and make sure he doesn't go far by bringing stuff up all the time.
|
RE: Elite Archery???
I'm with Len on this one and wouldn't be suprised if thesenever make it to market. Kevin is good at his job but patents and patent pending are there to protect the manufacture's rights. I'd also bet that the cams pictured were cut on Martin's machines, will Martin be in violation too?
|
RE: Elite Archery???
Lets say Elite has to pay a certain amount to use those cams, it generally doesn't cost all that much does it once you break it down toward added cost per bow? And as gibblet says, a variation may garner its own patent rights. I don't find the Binary system that revolutionary, not nearly so as revolutionary as a one cam compared to dualies.
If dealers will accept to sell the line, and the product they put out is good, the consumer may make the difference since they pay the money. I guess we will see. |
RE: Elite Archery???
Yes Kevin could of handled things much more tastefully. I am sure this is much more to this story than everyone knows.
I am by no means a lawyer or know anything about patents. But if this company can make a great product at a reasonable cost They will excel. If you are going to let your emotions and personal feelings get in the way of you purchasing a great product then thats too bad. |
RE: Elite Archery???
I agree, also,, don't put the cart before the horse;)
|
RE: Elite Archery???
Considering how Kevin burned his bridges and made some VERY bad professional decisions, it will be interesting to see how far he can go in this industry.:(;) I just have a real bad taste in my mouth about how he handled the whole situation...... Very unproffesional and filled with lies. Time will tell.............and I also have my eyes on this bow line....... The good news is that martin will actually have a bow that may benice soon..........:D;) |
RE: Elite Archery???
gosh i've got to get my camera cord from charlotte and post pics of my neighbors 15 yr old hoyt with slaved cams with no split cables. maybe they're completely different, but they sure looked very similar to me in concept to the 'new' binaries. i love bowtech bows, and i love my bowtech that kevin designed, that's why i'm interested. i think he does good work. i've had some messy breakups in my life, business wise and personal wise i've had to get over (and others have had to), so i can surely get over someone else's. now the thing i believe is that there are better limbs than gordon glass ones. whether he tried to get bowtech to use them and was denied, i guess it doesn't matter that much to me. if he'll be putting better ones on his bows, that interests me, and maybe others will follow suit and that interests me too. people say things they shouldn't when they're upset, dumb things, untrue things, things designed to hurt, its stupid, but i can hopefully see past it.
|
RE: Elite Archery???
I believe Gordon makes a quality product. I think the problem occurs on how the limb blanks are ground. It is expensive to laminate limbs (the equipment and glues required). Who else is making limb blanks? Here is a link to who gordon manufactures for http://www.gordoncomposites.com/who.htm

RE: Elite Archery???
I met the man who designed the Binary Cam System, and the bow designs for those cams, at the ATA Showlast year. He was given enormous praise andKevin's name was NOT mentioned in this design.
It is with this in mind and subsequent happenings throughout this fiasco that make me wonder. [:o][&o] |
RE: Elite Archery???
This whole story could get very interesting, and maybe even more messy than it already was.[:'(]
|
RE: Elite Archery???
The good news is that martin will actually have a bow that may benice soon..........:D;) |
RE: Elite Archery???
I personally hope that he makes it in the industry. Nothing better for us consumersthan industry competition. For a while, Hoyt and Mathews were the big fish in the pond. Then, Bowtech came along and really forced everyone to pick it up a notch.
I really like my Bowtech's and have nothing but praise for the product and the company that builds them. Whatever Keven did, it had to have been pretty bad. I don't know the details, nor do I really care. As long as Bowtech continues to produce top quality bows and stand behind them, I'm on board. But hey, if Elite Archery can build a bow that rivals any of these manufacturers, are more affordable, and they back them up, why not? |
RE: Elite Archery???
The good news is that martin will actually have a bow that may be nice soon...... |
RE: Elite Archery???
Whether Elite Archery survives will depend on their ability to produce a quality product at a competitive price and provide good service to their customers. None of this internet gossip will mean a thing if they can do that.
|
RE: Elite Archery???
Probably true, Straightarrow, though Champion was doing just that, and was taken down by not paying for use of patented draw length modules. Kind of a trivial thing in terms of the entire manufacturing of a bow. It seems like both Kevin and Bowtech are claiming to hold the rights to the use of the Binary cam system. It would seem doubtful that both will end up getting equal access to the system in the legal system. Elite certainly has been (on Internet forums at least) pretty bold about pushing their designs, which may be subject to someone else's patent rights. I don't know the important info which is in dispute, but it seems unlikely that Bowtech and Elite will both continue to make and market Binary cam bows happily and without serious dispute.[&:]
|
RE: Elite Archery???
Cetainly, if a company owes another money, and doesn't pay it, they could be in trouble. However, no one here knows that Elite owes royalties that they aren't paying. A court may have to decide that, but gossip is not going to bring them down. I'll interject the word 'legally'. "If they legally produce a good product..."
|
RE: Elite Archery???
again, i love bowtech, but didn't they go thru something similar with draw length modules? and finally make a deal. besides the personal junk between people, isn't this what we 'may' be dealing with. someone started a me vs. crackers thread over on AT. people were great about it and i had to inject that i think mike does great work, makes great strings, and has been there to help me with serving lengths on some bows i've never made before, and that i like him and think he's a great guy.it put an end to what could have happened there, but didn't. i'm just the same way here. i hope both companies do well, and instead of fighting all companies should have a common goal of getting more people into archery. bigger pie, more business.
edit: oh, ok, i get it, upon further review i guess if kevin had handled things like i did this wouldn't be an issue. |
RE: Elite Archery???
There's enough room for you's both to prosper in the archery string making business Gibblet .Theabsolutely no reason for someone to create a rift between the 2 of you's .I've read severel thread's on cracker's work and I've read and wrote a few threead's about your's . LOt's of room in this field for the 2 of you's to share .

RE: Elite Archery???

|
RE: Elite Archery???
crud i feel like a moron for not figuring that out.
|
RE: Elite Archery???
Kate makes a lot of sense...I thought it was an S for Kevin Strother's.
|

RE: Elite Archery???
Very cool, but also VERY Bowtech like IMO. But hey, if they can build the same bow as Bowtech, only cheaper...........I'm in. The prices of these bows are getting WAY out of hand now. Heck, I don't have a whole lot more in a my new 7mm Ultra mag with Leupold scope than I do in my latest hunting rig.
Lets see how things go. I'm always up for a new bow company.:D |
