Which string maker?

I will be getting a new string over the winter and have figured on going with one of the following makers. Does anyone have any input? Thanks

Vapor Trail
GAS
Winners choice
Prostrings

Get in contact with gibblet here on the forum he does some really good work at an affordable price.

He done a string for my recurve and it is a work of art. It is just about too good for me to shoot:)

I have used Winners Choice and Vapor Trail in the past, and they are both good. The Allegiance I just got has a one month old Winners Choice on it so I won't need to change that soon, however my 06' Constitution will probably have a gibblet string on it pretty soon in all sorts of 3d colors. I have seen quite a few reviews on his strings on here and AT and they all are great reviews, and the price is definately right.

i got a winners choice . the only thing is that it got fuzzy right away. i dont think its a failing string maybe its the type of material they use. i have to wax it much more. i see they have a string with some kind of coating on it. i wonder if that helps?

gibblet 11-27-2005 08:47 AM

RE: Which string maker?

i've seen that x-coat, and it looks like the worst idea that ever happened to me. i recently went to their faq section of their website, and i've never seen so much bs in one place before.

I had no clue, Gibblet! :DI don't make it over to AT nearly as much as I do here, but I have seen your name mentioned very favorably over there during the limited time I've visited... just as I have here too, of course! ;)

yep, i've got a couple customers i've made friends with, gone hunting with, that just call me 'nasty'. if jaime answers the phone they ask her if they can speak to 'nasty', or the 'nasty man', or something else silly like that. chris introduced me to his wife as nasty. now she doesn't know who i am when i call and say its john. 'oh, why didn't you tell me it was 'nasty'?' that's whay she'll say.

RE: Which string maker?

Do you make a three color combo string? How do your servings hold up?
Do you serve the loops? Thanks brother gibblet!

gibblet 12-27-2005 05:57 AM

RE: Which string maker?

3 color, no problem

serving, mine hold up fine, everyone else's, i don't know. with the new machine, they go on so tight when i finish a run its warm. i had to play around with a set for me of course and on my single cam you can't even see stress where there is supposed to be wear. stuff happens though, and nothing comes out perfect every time, that's why if there's an issue i'll take care of it hassle free.

i serve the loops with string material ( i swiped the technique from VT, who swiped it from crackers - so indirectly i swiped it from mike, there's something i bet you didn't know)

RE: Which string maker?

Zouk! I have had one of [John's] 3 coloured string's and floating yoke cable's on since early spring in which is before he got his new machine, it has worked flawlessly for me this season and has held up well through the warm and cold element's .I'm sure now his string and cable's will be even better .I'm just trying to decide which colour's on which to try next. I'm still going to stick with the floating yoke's because they're by far superior to the standard cable's ,smoother to draw and feel's as though your pulling less weight and no limb twist to speak of as well.
John does a great job on any type of string and cables ,and he does it right the first time as long as your measurement's are correct .He's easy to work with and he certainly has a great sense of humour .

after speaking with nubo so many times, the idea of him in a pink tutu has got me crying.

nubo, that would be hysterical if we got some footage of us on the moose hunt, stalking in pink tu-tus. i mean that would be something that would have our grandchildren's grandchildren rolling on the floor.

O.K. Gibblet but you go first an I'll do the filming LOL

Are you guys going hunting on Brokeback Mountain:D
Hey nubo I have some pink duravanes left from a setup I did for a friend, I can set them aside for you. They would match your new string and tu-tu
