Home built bowpress?
Does anyone have a plans on how to build your own bowpress?
They look very simple to build. My red head catalog has a couple of different presses that look like they would be very easy to copy.

coyote170 I tried the link and couldn't get it to work. How much did you pay for your press? I think I could build one in a couple of evenings for under $40.00. It looks like all I would need are some rollers (they look like they are off of a boat trailer) for the limbs and worm gear or winch to pull down on the riser. I already have the steel.
$149.00 to 279.00 just seems like alot for such a simple device.
Anyone have any thoughts?

RE: Home built bowpress?
I built my own, using rollers off a boat trailer. Cost me about $140, parts and labor. I had to get someone to do the welding for me ($60), before I learned how to do it myself.

Nota I had the steel the rollers came from
a trailer supply co. The jack came from
Wally World I am building one from the
catalog like you said.Mine works great but
the guy who did the welding etc. says that
they are way overpriced and this is his off
season for racing so he is just playing around
much to my good fortune! You ought to see the
tree lounge he built me to bad I hunt out of
ground blinds!!

Hey another option is the Bowmaster portable press. I have one, and they are a quality product IMO. Plus they are only about $30-35. Here's a link...

Notavegetarian, I e-mailed you the plans I used to make mine. Think it only cost $40ish (already had the hydralic jack) so it should be fairly cheap and strong.
