RE: Slam and 1/2 cams

Thanks man, i really appriciate the help, I just wish i knew how to factory order the strings off the internet. I have tested the bow out and love it, but it cost a few more dollars in the pro shop than the internet, that is why i was going to order it that way, i didn't know however that you could factory order different strings

Hope I haven't caused too much confusion here, but when I refer to ordering cable and string from the manufacturer, I'm referring to the cable/string manufacturer. For example, you can order a set of cables and strings directly from Winner's Choice that will fit the Buckskin, but either you would have to install them or a pro shop would. You can't call up Reflex and have them do it for you. However, depending on who you buy your bow from, you may still be able to get them to do it for you, even over the internet. For example, I''ve known a number of guys who have bought bows from huntersfriend.com. From what I understand of them, they might just be willing to order new string and cables and install them as part of a package purchase. You would naturally pay the increase in price for the string and cables though.

The worse case scenario is you just buy the bow with the factory string and cables and accept the fact they are going to stretch for a while. Later on you can switch to different cables and string when you've got some extra cash. The bow will still shoot well, you'll just need to tweak your sight and rest a bit from time to time to stay on target.

I will second the string stretch issue. I put a new string on my Supertec two weeks ago. It is just now getting shot in andI shoot every day for at least an hour.

My bow has the spiral cam and a half and it shoots well. I don't know about the regular cam and a half but mine has a extremely short valley. It is not a problem but takes some getting used to.It has the most solid wall of any bow I have ever owned.

What type of drawlength adjustments are on the cam? I thought reflex cams were only in 1 inch increments?

Reflex cams only adjust in one inch increments. However, you can use a string loop to lengthen the effective dl if necessary.

The thing to remember about the cam and a half, is that you still have to time the cams. No matter the cam system, it must be tuned to get optimum arrow flight.

let's see I own three bows with cam .5 and one with slam .5. All were set from the factory and all were in time, timing has not been a issue with any of them. the slam .5 has preformance holes, when you look the cables should be over the holes, as long as the cables are over any part of those holes the bow is OK. If by chance the cables streach it isn't hard to press and twist to put them back over the holes.. The so called timing has not been an issue with any of the bows at all.

Spend the extra dough to get a bow from your local shop. Chances are, they will set it up and maintain it for you for as long as you own the bow.If you dont buy the bow fromthe shop you plan on taking it to to get the work done, they will charge you everytime it needs work done to it.
