Release Question
Fellow Archers,
Just lately I have been using a quick release. I tworks great. However .......there are times that it doesn't seem to release evenly and the arrow goes wildly to the right. Does this ever happen to anyone else and if it does how do you fix the problem? Thanks Chuck |
RE: Release Question
what kind of release chuck? that hasn't happened to me yet.

RE: Release Question
Its not the release doing that.............Its the loose screw behind the peep:D:D

RE: Release Question
I think the problem may be torque. Do the arrows hit right only when you are tired?
|
RE: Release Question
Yes , it is after I am tired. How would that effect it?

RE: Release Question
the tendency, anyway, is for your body to anticipate the shot. its hard not to do without using back tension. your bow arm wants to let down, your whole upper body learns to collapse - specially when you are tired. focus on keeping your eye on the spot you were aiming at after the release occurs and leaving your bow arm alone until a second or 2 after the shot.

RE: Release Question
Thanks Gibblet,
When your talking back tension do you mean trying to draw your back shoulders toward each other. I had an instructor once tell me to shoot like that. My bow has very little let off and I believe the fatique might have something to do with it. When I first start shooting I have pretty good groups. However ; the longer I shoot the worse they get. RE: Release Question
Chuck,
I get like that too. It's just fatigue and a little tension thrown in.... That's all. What I have noticed (with my being lefty), is that if I accidently PUNCH the release with my index finger (major no-no [:-]), the arrow will hit the target, but be off to the right, like I caused the bow to torque somehow. If I relax and ease the release, I'll darn near Robin Hood an arrow at 20 yards! :D Butch A. |
RE: Release Question
Yeah ,
I agree with tha ttension thing. And the tension comes from missing badly. And the harderI try it gets worse. The other day I went and shot 9 straight shots. They were so good I put my stuff up and went home. The next time wasn't so good. What do you mean by torching the bow? Thanks Chuck |
