Get rid of peep sight???
I'm tired of my peep sight. I've tried three different peeps on this bow, but the string kept stretching and twisting. So I put on a custom string and it is still twisting. The only peep that works for me has one of those damn rubber tubes on it. It's really bugging me.
How many of you out there shoot with NO peep, but no other rear sight either? Can I take this thing off of my bow and still get the accuracy needed to hunt? As long as I keep my anchor consistant, it "should be" as accurate,.........right guys???[:@] |
RE: Get rid of peep sight???
Yes. As long as you keep the same anchor, the same stance, and the same grip it will be as accurate. Your form as to be pretty much perfect. I shoot without any type of peep or peep replacement (ie. NO Peep or Hindsite type deals), but I shoot with a red dot scope. Red dot scopes force you to keep the same anchor, if you anchor wrong, you wont even be able to see the dot.

RE: Get rid of peep sight???
Ive only been using it for a couple months now, just shooting out in the driveway. It's pretty cool. I dont know what else to say about it. I havent used it hunting so I cant really tell you what it would be like. I have mine on a solid mount. Its sighted it at 20 yards and I have to "Kentucky Windage" any farther out than that. Ask anything you need to know, I will be happy to help you with it, I just dont know what else to say.

RE: Get rid of peep sight???
I use a No-peep and it is very accurate. I have been using it for a few months and I shoot just as good as I did with a peep. Best $35.00 I have spent. It took a few weeks for me to get fully comfortable using it. Give it a try I think you will like it. Make sure you get a 3rd generation No-peep because timberline made alot of improvments to it over the older models and the improvments they made are like night and day. www.timberline-archery.com

IMO the No-Peep is well worth the money!! It is a great addition for any hunter.

I realize that the NO-peep and hind-site and red dots are great, BUT, are there any of you out there that use no peep sight or ANY type of rear sight??

RE: Get rid of peep sight???
I took my peep sight off years ago and i don't use anything at all and i have never looked back. My aging eyes just aren't as good as they use to be and i was having trouble seeing through my peep in fading light no matter what size hole was in it. A consistent anchor is the key which is what the hindsight and other aids train you to do. I found that with practice i shoot just as accurate without a peep sight as i did with one out to 35yds which is my limit with most of my shots being 25yds and closer due to the terrian that i hunt in. I have three anchor points that i use. I have a brass nock on my string that i use as a kisser button, touch the tip of my nose with the string and place my index finger knuckle under my ear lobe. I'm strickly a hunter and i'm both confident and comfortable with this set-up and it has worked well for me over the years. I think with practice your accuracy will be just fine especially for hunting. Good luck.

RE: Get rid of peep sight???
Thanks Mykey,
That's exactly what I was looking for, someone who uses nothing but their sight pins. I hope that more people have good luck this way and write in here to share their thoughts on it. Thanks, Kev |
RE: Get rid of peep sight???
Before I got my new bow with a red dot, I used pins. I did have a peep, but I hated it, so I took it off. I used it with out for a while and my groups opened up some, only because I didnt have my form consistent. Then I got my hindsite and it made me have perfect consistent form. I finally took my hindsite off and just used my pins. My groups never opened up. I used 4 reference points....Kisser on the corner of my mouth, knuckle below my ear, string touching nose, and my string lined up with my riser. Its alot to get used to, but now I dont even look at them or even realize where my reference points are because its so natural.
