Default Moose Mount Question

Hey Everyone!!
Last year I harvested a respectable size moose and I am interested in mounting the antlers on a plaque.
I am a first timer at this and have a couple of questions.
I was wondering if fiberglass would be ok to shape the skull or is "paper mache" still the way to go.
I plan on covering the skull with leather but I am wondering which is the best leather to choose for this project, a vegetable tan leather or an oil tan leather.
Personally I like the look of the "chaps" stlyle of leather but I'm not sure how difficult it is to work with and would a suede be a more appropriate approach for this task.
Thanks for your help.
Jeff

I have a moose rack done with suede and it looks great, plaque is oak. I think they also use bondo to shape the skull cap. Mine also has brown decorative roap around the antler bases and it finishes it off nicely.
