Default mounting question

I am trying to get into taxidermy. Iam going to try my first buck this summer. I have some antlers I am would like to mount but they were not cut from the skull correctly. What can I do so that they will work with the foms?

Default RE: mounting question

Is the skull plate too big or too small? If it is too big, cut it down with a grinder..if it is too small you will have to make a larger one with bondo and clay. Hope this helps, if you have questions email me. [email protected]

Default RE: mounting question

van dykes and wasco both sell skull caps that you cut the antlers off you`re skull cap right under the butt of the bases. drill a hole in the bottom of the bases and apply epoxy to the screws coming out of the skull cap. push the antlers down on the skull cap and you have a perfect skull cap that will fit the form perfectly. i have used these twice on sheds i found and they worked great and took me less than a half hour both times.
