Huntress,
I was a cop for a few years where I live and for many reasons none of which are financial, I resigned from the PD here and went into business for my self 6 months ago. For me it was the right thing to do. The hours are longer and the work more physicaly demanding but the stress level is much lower and I can actually tell my wife how my work day was. Not always a good idea when you spend your evenings kicking in doors to crack houses
Anyway it was the right choice for me and the family.
Hope that helps.

Bottomline... if you dread going to work, a third of your life stinks (give or take). Make a business plan, talk to a lawyer or research what you need to do to start a business on line, then slowly let the business take off. If it can pay the bills go full time.

Is this you?
