Default Oklahoma Boar

Got this boar in from a lady who shot it on a hunting trip to Oklahoma. She wanted the " Real " whets and tusks instead of the artificial set that matches the form.

Nice looking boar.

Is it common to not use the real tusks on a boar mount?

Very interesting mount! I like the verdant stones at the bottom.

I actually made those and put them on the mount because the outfitter who skinned the boar, cut the cape a little too short and it wouldn't cover the form in that area.

Clever! Now I'll wonder if that's the backstory on any mount with "stuff" surrounding it.

Yes, most open mouth boar are mounted with an artificial mouth/teeth set that fits and was designed for that particular form. For this boar, I had to cut the upper and lower jaws just below the teeth and make a cast of the roof of the mouth and the skin detail under the tongue. It did have an artificial tongue.
