Time has nothing to do with it? Turnaround time is part of running a business. Certainly the mount quality is most important, but turnaround means alot too. You can't tell me a hunter harvests a nice buck in the fall, and he's not excited to get it back asap to enjoy on his wall. A 2yr wait is uncalled for in my book. This gentlemen kept getting alot of excuses, and some the same ones. Thats poor business quality in my book. I know what it takes to mount deer heads. The biggest wait is the tannery, and then the drying process. Bigger taxidermist have more equipment such as drying rooms, and hired help. This customer has also said it was mounted the wrong way, which this taxidermist should have first discussed with him over the missing hair(which makes me even more suspicious), before doing so.
Maybe I'm wrong, but with the price of mounts now I believe customers deserve better. I don't think the turnaround time often means better quality. I think it is more about being busy, and having alot of work to do. That can often mean less time spent on each mount, becasue he has so many to do. Which can relate more to a production taxidermist over a quality taxidermist.
