I have to agree with you, that's a very amateurish mount .
|
I wouldn't wait until I shot another buck and use that cape. I'd have him secure a cape. And I'd want one that was the size of the original buck.
But, for $150, you may not have much leverage. A mount in my area is $500-600. That crappy thing is, you'll never get the oringial cape back. To me, the cape is most of the animal. I know the antlers have a lot of the character, but so does the body. |
Great rack....thst's a monster in my neck of the woods..I think it would look bette on s plague and a wood panneled wall

Happens to all, well...
A freind of mine shot a nice buck .
Same hing happened to him , Another friend of ours did the mount . Not exactly pos. on the price , I think it was around $300 . also 10 years ago. Anyways our friend ?? mixed up the hides . He got it back with a totaly diiferent hide witch was shot earlier in the season and had a normal size neck on it compared to his full swollen neck . I,d be pritty pissed as he was . Well after grummping and all it still hangs in his house the way its mounted . He was thinking the same thing , I f every a day he or a friend shot a big deer that wasnt going to be mounted to have it redone .. |
$150 wow. It costs me about $100 in supplies to do a mount.
|
i agree with the other people, theres more things to be concerned about then the cape, the ear buts are to low, hair sticking up in the throat, brisket not centered, no muscle definition and eyes look wierd to me. but hey, you got what you paid for.
|
I bet whoever killed that buck cut his throat. I've seen one with the hair sticking up like that and his throat had been cut. Very unfortunate to say the least. Good luck getting it fixed...
