Yeah the sad part is most customers don't know what quality is but it seems more and more are learning all the time which is a good thing. WCL

Very true Wingchaser. Most are going through the phone book checking prices, instead of checking finished work. Some are being a little more picky nowadays though.

Yeah and I don't know how many people I had this year call and say so and so says you do good work and they bring me a head without even seeing one of my mounts and never asked to see any of my mounts when they dropped them off in the garage where I do my skinning. They just assume you do good work cuz their buddy says it is good work even though the average person doesn't know what quality is. Usually I will take them in and show them a couple but some people are like thats alright, sign the papers and take off.

I had a few do that to me this year and its only my second year taking customers. I made them come in and look so they know what they can expect and if they like my work.

I took some classes over the summer with a very experienced taxidermist and improved drastically. I look back on last years mounts and wish I could re-do them lol

You can always tell around the eyes, ears and nose! I had one deer mount where the nose looked "dried out" and colorless in about 6 months! Took it to another txi for refinishing and looked great!

i had one guy that bragged he won many awards doing deer heads when i picked up my buck at his place it had huge bug eyes. he said it made it look more alive,,,i said yea if it saw a grizzley when it turned around,,my old guy couldnt do it cause he had cancer.
i called him to ask what i could do he reground em and reset em even though he was feeling very sick,,he took me aside and showed me good work from poor ,on his mount you could stick a pencil up the nose cause he drilled the nose before hand,,little things sure make a big differance,,,ill sure miss him ill tell ya.

first of all its not a couch moron, its a lazy boy with a blanket on the back side of it, second of all if its not related to the post, then keep your smart remarks to yourself. Go on somewhere little kid ( if your not a little kid this should make you feel like a bigger idiot ).
